ahh yes, my favorite character archetype, what I like to call "the bitch". This character either has shown up once or not at all previously but is somehow tied to the love interest. After they serve their purpose of getting in the main character's way they will quickly fall out of relevance. This character has a ~30% chance of showing up and indicates that either the story has run its course or the author has run out of ideas.

You forgot one thing: they are almost always a "threat" for about a volume's worth of chapters and will almost always be forgiven or tolerated for their behavior.

It's worse when the main couple is dating because those antics read differently than if they were all single and fairly "competing." Trying to break up a relationship is different than trying to appeal to someone. Some authors seem not to care about that difference though, treating it like it's a "cute" thing.

I always be saying this, it’s always the short hair bitches “side characters”. The authors always use these annoying ass side characters just to piss us off. But anyway THE PRINCE BETTER GET HER MF SWORD AND SLAY THAT HOE. I love when shun confessed and the prince push that girl was like get tf out the way 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Man, while I don't dislike the "live rival" trope overall, what I really fucking hate is said rival appearing from out of nowhere in same chapter she's starting to be an annoying bitch for absolutely no reason.
It's just bad way to stretch the story without needing to actually think about events or normal twists.

NOT TO MENTION HER RUINING A CONFESSION OUT OF ALL THINGS :shamihuh:

I bet she'll have some sad ahh backstory and hopefully will fuck off within a volume.

It's obvious she has no chance and just exists for shun to strengthen her resolve. New kid is just a stepping stone for shun to emotionally mature.

This ain't nothing to worry about. Our girls are destined to be together. Remember that folk tale thing in an earlier chapter? Nothing will get in their way :hearts:

Very true. The sob backstory is coming and then she'll be irrelevent. It happens all the time in these stories fr

My happiness lasted 5 seconds before I realized they are actually trying to bring a love rival in for absolutely no reason. She confessed and they are dating now, what need is there for this random ass girl????? I'm trying to think what else can this girl possibly bring to the narrative other than being that annoying side girl who interrupts anytime the couple has any type of moment.Sometimes this trope works to bring the couple together/closer or whatever, but I don't see the need for that for them. Hopefully this arc doesn't last long.

We know. A lot of us also have read tens to hundreds of GL stories at this point with the same fucking trope, it's so overplayed. GL couple can't progress without a third wheel pushing them along.

Aite, so tired of this shit, I'll give it exactly 1 chapter to resolve that (meaning the next), if it gets dragged on longer than that, I'll just drop the manga honestly.. at this point its mutual and they made it clear in front of her and she pulls some 80s shit 😮‍💨

Rather than entertaining, romantic or whatever it's just straight up annoying (not even just frustrating anymore)

Person 1 : I love you
Person 2 : i love you too
Done, but no they just go :
Person 3 : iLl tAke YoU aWay

Like Bitch, 2 people said they dont want to that's it, i dont understand how thats making the plot any more interesting

i hate this kind of characters that don't respect other people relationship, at least they are dating now but i fear that she will get in the way in every important interaction for a while

i know but it is still annoying and too sudden, the worst part is that they are oficially dating now and she just ignored that so yeah she deserve a good slap to wake up for life
