For those of you heavily confused as to the "
East site" vs "
West side" bullcrap. The school is split into 2 wings. One is for the "
average people" where as the other side is dedicated to the highly prestigious wealthy folk who get special education & resources.
There has been a lot of tension between the two sides of the school in the past. The latest student council has dedicated itself to easing this tension. As evident by the vice president being from the
poor people side of the school.
It'll become a bit more prominent in the future but for now I think this is the first hint of tension.
I've pointed out again and again, here and elsewhere, that no simp/thot relationship is close enough for both participants to address each other by their given names without honorifics as both Aika and Wataru do at the start of the story. Whatever else he's been to her, he's been the only constant in her life outside her home this entire time and he's much more valuable to her than he realizes, even if it's in ways he he wasn't meaning to be.
This is a good take on the story so far. Without giving away too much, Aika simply
hasn't had those feelings yet. But Wataru does mean something too her.
