Lots of the questions here would be easily answered by the LN. Even those versions are hard to read from a RL perspective, but you get sort of a better sense of the MC's convoluted thinking.
You also get Aika's POV chapters that follow her gradual understandings and personal development. She's not who she seems. She's not a great person right now, but the LN gives much better context for her difficulties.

What tf is going on? Idk man, I was really hoping for a story where the dude knows his worth. Cuts back from essentially simping creepily on this girl and he moves on. She realizes she actually enjoyed it all this time and stops interfering.
The key here is not that she enjoyed it, but that she didn't understand it, having spent all the time Wataru was pursuing her helping to keep her family together and functioning as her sister's primary caregiver while neglecting her own emotional and social development.

I've pointed out again and again, here and elsewhere, that no simp/thot relationship is close enough for both participants to address each other by their given names without honorifics as both Aika and Wataru do at the start of the story. Whatever else he's been to her, he's been the only constant in her life outside her home this entire time and he's much more valuable to her than he realizes, even if it's in ways he he wasn't meaning to be.

The anime is worse in terms of pacing, a lot of content is skipped and/or glanced over. I supposed it was made just to boost on sales for the LN.

even if it's a machine translation, i'm really glad someone is working on it, and the images are high quality too
Manga is popular in Japan - how to cheat while declaring yourself as 'faithful'.

For those of you heavily confused as to the "East site" vs "West side" bullcrap. The school is split into 2 wings. One is for the "average people" where as the other side is dedicated to the highly prestigious wealthy folk who get special education & resources.

There has been a lot of tension between the two sides of the school in the past. The latest student council has dedicated itself to easing this tension. As evident by the vice president being from the poor people side of the school.
It'll become a bit more prominent in the future but for now I think this is the first hint of tension.

This is a good take on the story so far. Without giving away too much, Aika simply hasn't had those feelings yet. But Wataru does mean something too her.

It is better explained in the novel, I think here they will brush off a lot of things related to “east vs west” crap, haven’t looked that far into the manga YET but it has some weird jumps and story voids.
