The boy Shotaro doesn't seem very interested in shogi itself, but rather in appearing on TV...? It's bizarre that neither of them seems really interested in the game itself. It seems like that guy (was it their dad?) at the beginning of the chapter was "cursing" them by putting his hand on their heads as he left~
Thks for the translation~

Seems the teacher regrets telling a student, he's talented in the past?
Guess that explains why is he is so cautious in his advice.

Really hate that woman. It's fine to have a dream but have a back up plan. Such a horrible person. She's probably desperate to be right and have a famous person come from her school but seems like she's constantly having failures as well

i might've wanted a bunk bed as a kid but i feel like now i'd roll out and hurt myself

honestly losing aside, i half expected some one to be bribed off so that someone either cheated or got sent through even tho they weren't as 'good' as the bros

interesting there's some kinda casual? shogi club/hangout lol

and yeah i know creative/skilled ppl get sensitive about being called 'talented' but a lot of ppl use it interchangeably but i suppose even with a lot of 'talent/hardwork and skills' anything can happen like an accident/broken hand and such (tho other than being hired for commissions for songs or performing at parties/weddings/etc i can't imagine too many ppl hiring a pianist/violinist that often to pay the bills unless each performance is a ridiculous amount to where they'd only have to 'work' once every 3 months without a second job/side hustle [tho i guess i don't exactly live in the most 'cultured' city])

Wonder how she and sensei would react if dealing with a rich kid like "oh i'm just gonna be a nepo baby/in charge of parents company"/get married to a rich person/be a housewife/etc but i imagine most still expect students to have careers even if not every teen has that big of a 'dream', tho wonder if we'll just get some normal/common 'office worker/salaryman' that'd be an 'aspiration' and sensei talking about avoiding black companies
