Is being up to date with uniform really that important in Japan?
Japan is very community-minded, while America is almost always individually-minded. Not being in the right uniform would "normally" make others pointedly ignore you, or outright mock you, and that's just from fellow students. Teachers may lecture you, hand out demerits, or even give you detention depending on how much of a hardass they are.

Of course, I say "normally" in quotes because I'm not actually up-to-date on how modern Japanese high schoolers act. My information is pulled from a video discussing the differences in school culture from the PoV of a Japanese high schooler coming to America in the 90s.

I would probably wear the summer uniform longer. I don't like wearing too much, since it often gets too hot if I wear what everyone else wears.

Thing is, how would she not notice? Just that much of an airhead?

"It doesn't look like anything will—"
You had to say it. Although her appearing is a good thing.

Misinterpreted it correctly.

I'd say mission successful. He delayed it sufficiently long.
