Damn, I feel bad for Sakine. Being always on edge must be awful.
That being said, I am still on team innocent Gyaru x Yuki onna.
Sakine x Bitch/funny gyaru anyone?

Im gonna assume it was a mistake and middle school instead of elementary school, no kid has sexual preference at that age. And if they have it’s due to a fucked up family.
Elementary in Japan goes up to like 12? That’s plenty of time to determine that. If kids can determine they like the opposite gender at that age it stands to reason they can determine they like the same gender.

I’ll never understand why every human should date the opposite sex only. Love comes in unexpected forms. A boy can fall in love with another boy, and a girl can adore another girl. It’s perfectly fine. Loving someone has no limits, and like someone of the same gender shouldn’t be a problem.
It's better for the development of a society, humans are a resource, so trying to minimise homosexuality is good for that.

Assuming same sex attraction is influenced by nurture at all, having a society that shuns same sex attraction and enforces heteronormativity will yield more of that human resource, compared to one that completely accepts same sex attraction and doesn't push heteronormativity at all. The later society could very likely suffer declining birthrates which would lead to big issues.

In the same sense, keeping the majority the right amount of stupid is also good, since that way you can keep the birthrates up (the higher your iq the less likely you are to reproduce).

But then again that's just my autistic devil's advocate argument, speaking realistically it's just people being too stupid to not just follow the cultural norm (homophobia).

This gives a huge amount of context about Sakeine. Especially for those who were unfairly judging her. To be honest, Sakeine is now my favorite to be the protagonist's partner, but I'm open to the love triangle. She is not bad, her behavior was shaped by intolerant people from an early age. It must be a pain to have to deal with that. That's why I understand why she fell in love with the protagonist.

thank you for the chapter, lol chad dorkussy provided just the gals being pals moment that Sakine needed. That's an interesting origin to how her hunt for her senpai bottom began.

Dang bullied in elementary school of all places for being gay that's some early level homophobia. But I suppose it's not impossible kids start imposing social norms by like 9 years old.
Fact-check me but I want to add to this:

Their elementary school ranges from 1st to 6th grade in Japan compared to American schools stopping at 5th. So, her saying she was bullied for being gay during that time makes it a little more possible if you think it may have happened to her during her last year of elementary school. In my mind, middle school bullying (6th to 8th in America) for being queer is more prominent than I say in elementary (not trying to say it's impossible cause it can happen).

How I'm breaking down their school timeline:
Elementary is 1st to 6th grade
  • Sakine starts to be bullied
Middle school is 7th to 9th grade
  • Sakine tries hard to recover from the bullying and can cover most of it up by her graduation
High school is 10th to 12th grade
  • Sakine meets Chiyo and befriends her / falls in love with her (During the flashback, Sakine is probably a freshman while Chiyo is a second year)
  • The story takes place with either Chiyo & Mafuyu as seniors and Sakine as a second-year
Honestly, just correct me if I got this wrong but it's how I've been reading the story.
