That's the problem with long running series. Sure you care about the characters more, but when mangaka's have to string along the series because it's making them money, they get into weird situations. Case in point, when the popularity starts to plummet, the most common thing for the mangaka's to do is to do the quick wrap up. They know the cash cow is over, so they quickly finish the story in one or several chapters. Dress Up Darling, Komi, they suffered that fate. Unsatisfying endings, because they had to do it while they still had some sort of audience after they milked them. And some of the times it's not even the fault of the mangakas, the series went on longer than it should have because of the producers/those with the money. At least this one had a decent run. The others which had long running, years going by, and fans expecting more but not getting it yet they get a quick wrap up. Nobody wants to be known for an abandoned series if they can help it.
