although it feels like it would be awkward if you were all friends, knew someone was dating someone for a year and then asked you out next or so but might depend on the situation/personalities

The plot implies it'll happen eventually, but I'm doubtful it will happen immediately. My guess is that it'll actually be Oshiko who pushes him to break up with her and go out with Miharu instead. Nozaki doesn't seem like the type to proactively break up with her on his own, since he knows that will hurt Oshiko and he wouldn't want to do that, but I'm not entirely ruling out the possibility given how he's shown himself able to grow, at least somewhat. We'll see I guess.
