She's from a single mother household and describes herself as unstable. I feel bad for her but that's really not good.

“Nobody knows” other than a fresh start in a new city or no previous friends I’d think it’d be hard for a student to hide the fact that their parent died , assuming they got time off to mourn since I’ve seen some animanga being like “x-san is absent today to mourn” but yeah at least she didn’t cope via alcoholism or so
I don’t know what they’ve talked about before but other than small steps here and there I doubt she’d change over night/after one session

I don't want to downplay whatever trauma or emotional instability she has but I'm not buying all of it as a valid reason for her to be as starved for attention as she seems to be.
Her brother grew distant from her... as teen boys tend to do.
Her father passed away while overseas... tragic, but she seemed to have a stable upbringing when he was around and her parents doted on her by her own admission.
Everyone thinks she's upbeat and cheerful and she feels obligated to keep up that front... this could actually be a good angle for a character flaw as that kind of toxic positivity can play into societal obligations and expectations in Japan. But I don't think it works as an excuse to be clingy.
Oshiko was a lot more believable and sympathetic when she was apologizing to Miharu so I really hope author doesn't drop the ball here. Not exactly progress if we've simply gone from Nozaki angsting to Oshiko angsting for a far less convincing reason.

People are too quick to judge that this isn't anything that adds to her character. She is supposed to be flawed as a person. With her father gone she needed the male validation from her brother, but with him also pulling away she's now seeking it in other men. She's gone from living a very regimented life in following the praise she was given as a child to now rebounding into being excessively spontaneous. Her going out with Nozaki was driven by the fact he's fairly gullible and she took advantage of that.
