*In a narrator's voice* The story so far:
MC acted as ghost fighter (as in "ghost writer") for hero, was denied his share for hero party exploits and chased away.
When arriving in some rural town he decided to go incognito to not attract any heat and introduced himself as gatherer to get minimum wage and work on his social skills while planning to get his revenge and live calm life. I have no clue why this is not contradiction.
In the guild he found his convenient potential waifu whose plot relevance is to provide MC with all living necessities and reader with explaination of stuff.
While gathering some nuts he found convenient mind-reading loli and decided to take her home.
The nuts he gathered ended up used in some shady monsters loot smuggling scheme wich was confirmed by mind-reading loli.
Busting into smuggler/local handyman adevnturer guild head's room (for some reason exiled or even wanted in other place - I don't know why is he trusted with guild affairs) he found magical puppet filled to the brim with magical cores/smuggling nuts and busted all those nuts (don't ask me why would someone hide contraband in what amount to sleeping dummy).
Local guild head was apprehanded and convenient girl started to suspect he is not gatherer at all, but still proceeded to cook him meals.

I wonder why they're smuggling nuts in the first place. They must be akin to drugs or Dragon Quest seed stat boosters. Maybe it's for a race of squirrels.

@Lyanhyrt the nuts aren't whats being smuggled. it's magic cores, but i think they are using the nuts to smuggle them. maybe by hiding them in the nuts shells or something.
