I hope he doesn't get back with any of the girls in the old team and just focuses on the new team.

Wait, why tf was he the one apologizing for not seeing them, they were the ones that “respectfully said he’s not needed.” Or am I just dumb and not understanding things? Also, It’s totally gunna be annoying if this is another one of those series that has a ton of people constantly watching/spying on the mc knowing exactly what he’s doing and where he is, but somehow he’ll have zero clue throughout.
Lol he almost died on every expedition. And it was one of the three girls who told him to quit not the other two. But fact of the matter is that he might very well have died due to the huge level gap between them.

This isn’t like other stories in the genre. No one was really at fault here. But him not even talking to his comrades before he left was on him lol.

Both of the others were checking up on him to make sure he’s doing okay and now she’s comforting him at his low. She’s definitely in the right here imo

Oh wow the old team still actually talks to him and wishes for him to catch up, ngl that's fucking great, wish more series would do stuff like that as in the break up not being bad blood

Heck she even acknowledge that there must've been a misunderstanding between MC and the party for him to leave
that's fucking amazing for there to be chars to realize that

Now that I think about it I feel like I'm getting excited for something so simple but I guess its because the majority of manga's have pretty poor writing when it comes to things like this so its refreshing to see something new where people aren't THAT stupid, guess the bar really is that low for me LMAO :nyoron:
I don’t think it’s a matter of poor writing, but it’s a technique by authors to piss off the audience. The more pissed off you are the more likely you keep reading out of hatred to see what happens next lol.

Ofc I much prefer this and am more likely to follow this, but can’t say the other approach doesn’t work to extent. It’s just that I’m way more likely to drop something that relies on negative emotions like that after catching up a bit and never come back to it.

This I’m happy to re-read from the start or come back to anytime.

I agree it's really strange that the people who in not a very nice way kicked him out of the team get a free pass. Sure, in other similar manga, we've seen people behave like psychotic narcissists toward what was depicted as basically close, dear friends. Still, here we're supposed to accept that someone who "loves" the ML kicks him out in a cold, distanced way, and then he gets happy when they show up again.
Are we going with the argument that the characters are high school kids with bad EQ, or maybe the author is a shut-in?
Or maybe I'm non-standard for thinking that once that sort of thing has happened, it's over? Because even if people who did that sort of thing approached me again, I would
a) not really feel like having anything to do with them (at least not without a clear ... let's say apology)
b) IF I were to work with them for some reason, I'd find it super hard to trust them.
Is this a case of cultural differences? Is it OK in Japan to kick you to the curb, and then come back, and say "Work HARD, and maybe we'll let you play with us in a subordinate role"? I thought being super sensitive about other people's honor and stuff was very basic for Japanese culture, but I may have misunderstood things ...

Hasn't that been explained before? He was weak and he felt sorry for them. The party leader didn't want to expel him but had to because she loves him and don't want him to get hurt. That's the whole point of the story. None of the other girls actually hate him, it's been made without agreement too.
Hey.
There is another kind of read to be made here, too.
She's the leader of the old party. She said that she hadn't told the others about kicking him out, but that doesn't really mean it was true. (I'll have to look up exactly what the old team say to one another about this.) She is not saying ANYthing about
Also, READ what SHE says to Keiichiro in the first chapter. She doesn't even ONCE say anything warm or friendly to him. Not ONCE. He does some reminiscing, and is nice, even though he must be crushed.
She even asks HIM to do the paperwork. Why, I ask? She does this just after K has thought that kicking someone out reflects quite negatively on the team. But consider what happens if someone leaves of their own accord? Sooooo my reading is that you could see her whole behaviour as totally calculated, but cold, and unable to offer him even a crumb of kindness, and remembrance of the good old days.
Nah. I would steer soooo super clear of people behaving like this.
Even saying she hasn't told the rest of the team is super shitty. A team where such a thing is done unilaterally by the leader is garbage, and nothing to come back to, or work with in the future.
If they came back, and really talked about it, without trying for the fake "rational" arguments, and cold demeanor, I would listen, but I find his total inability to tell her she's behaved badly toward someone who should rightly have been one of the closest persons in her life very strange.

I hope you and your friends behave better to one another.
Because even though he was lagging behind his team, there are better ways to handle him leaving than what the leader did. She was super cold. She didn't even once show remorse, or hint at their extensive, and apparently long common history was of value to her. She asks him to do the paperwork (after we've been told by his thought that kicking someone reflects poorly on the team). She doesn't insist that he should get a quarter of the resources the team has. And she tells him she didn't talk about this with the rest of the team. We don't know if this is true at this time, so it could just be a psychological ploy on her part.
--- OK, re-read a bit: in chapter 3 we get Holy Sword talking about this (not whether they'd agreed on kicking beforehand, though), and the leader is in love with Keiichiro. Well, they all are - which makes the beginning even worse - Kou in effect messed up getting together with Keiichiro for all of them. You go, girl! Yeah. That comes across as super plausible (not, in case you belong to a generation that doesn't call itself "ironic"). If she had ANY hope of getting together with him, she did things seriously wrong. ---
I mean I like this manga, but this part of it should just have been written differently. Yeah I get there are those who say reader retention is boosted by annoying us, but not as effectively as simply writing really good manga.

To me it's weird that a woman who loves someone would be "angry" at him for not getting in touch, when he's been kicked out of the team. OK, she wasn't there when he was kicked, so she didn't see the emotionally NULL way it was done (despite his trying to reminisce about the good old days). Maybe she thought Kou had done some sort of tearful "I'm sorry, but we can't let you expose yourself to danger any more" thing (nah, she must know their leader).
In any case, since she and the others have signaled that they love him, she should have gotten in touch to make sure he's OK. They all must have understood how painful it would be to lose one's closest friends and compatriots of literally years - even since childhood!?
Were they thinking that it was for the best to stay away from him?
Personally, I'd prefer it if he gets together with Reizi, but the way it looks now, he's all set on getting back into the old team.
I guess all this is a case of too little backstory given to us in this manga.
Otherwise it just doesn't come across as plausible.
I mean even a**holes say those obligatory "We must stay in touch! Let's have lunch!" And so on, ad nauseam.
These women are even supposed to love him ... They actually deserve someone else to come scoop him up.

Keiichiro doesn't know any one of them loves him (oldest trope in manga, but there you go).
Kou (leader) doesn't show him that she doesn't want to kick him. She just does it, with minimum expression of feelings.
He can't KNOW that the others care. Kou just said she didn't tell them.
Also, she's not behaving like someone who cares, what with not gainsaying him when he says they should keep his part of the resources, or not reacting when he tries to reminisce about when they came to Tokyo, or, for that matter - asking him to do the paperwork for his expulsion (meaning the team doesn't get hit by a bad rep for kicking him, since he "left on his own").
The only thing still binding him to them is his love, and those years, including childhood. Strong stuff, but remember, they kicked him without showing care, and haven't shown him any since, until now, when he's started to be successful. (That doesn't show care, either, actually - quite the opposite, depending on the recipient's personality.)

Compare all this with what a caring, loving exit might be: ALL THREE present, showing regret, reminiscing, maybe sharing a good meal+alcohol (I don't know, Japanese, plus not so old protagonists?), saying all those tired things about keeping in touch, and then actually keeping in touch. After all, they all love one another. The whole confess whild kicking sounds a bit bungey jumpy, so I wouldn't think that would be good. (Like "you're out, but hey, we like you, so you can be our pet". Don't know if that would really be nice for anyone to live through ...)
