In Eresh Scans' defense, before anyone accuses them of sniping, it has been three months since Brutalbot Scans released their previous chapter. At least according to the data on mangadex' page.

It isnt sniping if the manga isnt updated around the time a raw is out (a couple of weeks give or take).

Well, I didn't know.
Maybe they did not know either.
Not like there was a warning of hiatus on the last chapter, unless Brutalbot Scans removed it when posted here. And just because the scan was uploaded wherever they got recently doesn't mean it was released recently. There are some stories here that, if not for the pt-br translation continuing, I'd have thought had been axed or something

But anyways, I'm not part of that group so I can't say anything about their thought process in this.
I would probably do the mistake of thinking it had been dropped, though.

For what Brutalbots said on their discord, they wait until full chapter is available (probably for free instead of paywalled), as someone that follow the raws, 63.2 became "free" just last week with the release of Chapter 64 as paid, manga updates just going slowpaced too since it returned from hiatus in september with chapter 62 and volume 7, due to artist health (scan tl it like a month later, otherwise would've been longer between chapters)

Though well, since this only get published in the jp manga up! mobile app, most people won't even keep track of the schedule for this anyway, so is understandable, specially if it been this long

Either way, this doesn’t seem like that a big deal this time around, and Brutalbot handled it really professionally. It wouldn’t be the first time I follow a manga that had quick lower quality release and a longer higher quality one.

Thanks for the upload!

lmao okay and expecting things done for free for you constantly is entitlement

yes there are countless volunteers out on the internet with the same interests in manga etc, and also recognize this is a very entitled mindset
I'm happy if I get something to read at all. All these translators etc, even the crap MTL ones, are doing far more for me than I'm doing for them.

People have so different opinions about what's considered "sniping", but personally I'd say by the time the chapter after becomes available (or would be, in case of non-standard schedule changes). However, at the end of it it's just about being polite and respecting others' work and commitment.

(FYI this isn't in reference to any of the TL's in question for the series but rather the whole 6 month moratorium statement.)

At the same time saying nobody is allowed to touch "your project" because you called dibs even when you can't manage to put out two updates in a whole year also seems pretty entitled to me as well.

I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, free translations are free translations after all, but half a year of nothing before anyone else is allowed to touch the project seems excessive to me.

Generally 3 month is the MINIMUM before it can be categorized acceptable to pick the project without much drama involved, but if you want to be extra certain/safe, 6 month

Beside imho, if people want to snipe, let em snipe if they can do it in decent quality, each person can do it without care of the other group existence, and just release their own version, each to their own.

This shouldnt be a problem unless the group is expecting donation and the whole group structure is paid to translate

You are missing the point, I am not being entitled about the translations if it is organic. I just think having monopoly on mangas is stupid. If a group is not releasing it other people should be free to do it themselves. If a manga has no fans and organically stop being translated then it is what is no biggie.

Think of it less like a business and more like a gentleman's thief unspoken agreement; we're all breaking the law here, but we've gotta have some kind of honour among thieves, else we end up with total anarchy and unstranslated mangas.

Or worse, we’ll once again summon “he who shall not be named”… ComicDom, the Dark One, Ruiner of Series…
