Did the dragon itself choose to dip even though it could've beaten them?

What, the idiots actually listened to the one reasonable member of the party? They begrudgingly understood what Runa said? Well, color me surprised. There was still some decent schadenfreude to be enjoyed though. A reality check to everyone else who took it all for granted.

But I'm disappointed the story feels like it nerfed the replacement enchanter Philly too hard to make the MC look godlike by comparison. I was told she had potent buffs enough to be as good as the other top tier enchanter Selma. I'd understand it if she was just slow at casting the buffs and/or can't handle multiple simultaneous casts, but to make it look like her buffs are useless?

That 1sec. 50x effectiveness buff by the MC doesn't make sense for him as a supposed "jack of all trades", because that kind of potency already makes him better than ANY specialist enchanter, easily putting him at the top of them all under the right conditions. I don't believe this "he's a jack of all trades master of none" bullshit any longer. There's no living enchanter greater than him at this point just by this original magic existing.

Any min-maxer worth their salt would love to have that 50x effectiveness buff even if it lasted for 1s, because it can be made viable just by the enchanter eventually learning the right timing to apply it. Heck, if that original magic gets out that's going to create a whole new meta and make every other regular enchanter "playstyle" obsolete.

The way I understood it, in terms of total effect (like, duration x power), he's weaker than Selma and Philly, but they are limited to standard spells that deploy that effect over longer durations, and what makes him unique is being able to reconfigure his effect to very short durations with very high power. So, he's not a "jack" in the sense that he's actually worse, he's a jack in the sense that his numerical level is lower as an enchanter, and that he also has a good but not exceptional level as a swordsman. But due to his special capability to create original magic, in effect, he's an OP protagonist. And I mean, in the "kicked out of the hero party" subgenre, the protagonist is always OP.

I'm gonna be 100%, that girl should have dropped their arses the moment she heard about him being kicked out without her input. But, her character was proven to be so much better because she didn't do so. Not only is she smart, observant and not a push-over but she's also honorable to a party who dishonored her and someone she cares for.

Best girl in my eyes.
It's like how the Salaryman trapped in a Black Company won't leave. "I have to be grateful to the ones who gave me a chance even though they're exploiting and killing me." It's the Overdeveloped Sense of Honor thing.

Kind of yes, but kind of no. She's honoring the plans they already made but she's also using it to teach them a lesson.
It's similar to the situation you said but she stayed with the black company cause she knows it's about to go under and she wants to be there to tell them why.
