So in that case (I don't think it is correct, but let's expound it anyway), elvira as a magician character originated from arnold switching career-track after getting thoroughly beaten by a little kiddie who showed up all of a sudden one day, giving him an epiphany that he is truly not cut-out to become an alchemist and that is why he was rejected by the granny (even if that is likely a misconception, and mc is just too op at alchemy).
So he becomes a trap magician, the garden is remade into a town-square with a fountain because [insert-reason-arnold-quitting-makes-his-master-sell-the-plot], and then mc secretly makes all potions for the hero-party through that magical tele-port _^xD while hero romances a party-member because his childhood-crush kept on jilting him.
