Not a problem if the new servant has a short shelf life/is already dying, has some form of off switch, no free will, or the fight is close enough that whoever wins will be severely wounded.

• Setting with magic and super-powerful beings roaming the land
• The king is just a weak old muggle who everybody obeys for some reason

This is one of the most glaring and common worldbuilding flaws I've seen in nearly every modern fantasy series. Even supposed harem "trash" like Familiar of Zero made more sense by making magic exclusive to nobility.

Who says the king does not have magic?
Depending on how strong the average persons' magic is, how magic aptitude is inherited/works, and how inherited nobility tends to work, the king could easily be the descendent of a great warrior, like how many real world nobles were the descendents of the strongest individual at the time who used force to be put in charge.
It really depends on a lot of factors not explained as they are not important enough to need to be in 90+% of stories.

Uuuuh, how stupid is this king? It is one thing to endanger himself by meeting the dangerous danger in person, because he thinks it is still safe for now. But then he decides to still be there in person the moment he declares the dangerous danger as an [Enemy], and orders lethal force to be applied to ensure said dangerous danger is forced to consider [the king] as an [Enemy] in return, making it easy to slap him out of existence? Or overall dying from collateral damage?

Couldn't he at least have verified the "rebellion", skedaddled, and then forced the confrontation when he was safely out of harms way? Still not the best of ideas, considering how MC is OP, but at least it is not outright intentionally suicidal, only ignorantly suicidal.

Doesn't matter if he has magic or not, he's clearly weak or he would have no need for a hero or assassin.

Even if he was descended from a great warrior, that means next to nothing if he himself isn't one. Power now is infinitely more important than power in the past. Realistically, he would've been deposed by any strong guy in the kingdom who wanted power.
