Also seems like Umagon still hasn't learned (or just can't) how to talk yet, despite his parents saying he would be able to when he got older. Though it is also possible that might change in future chapters once the battle is finished.

I wonder if Barry is about to accomplish something similar to Kanchome by regaining his spells by simply learning a new one, given that we're getting a call back to when the fight with Zatch stirred something in Barry such that he finally gained a sense of direction for the kind of king he wanted to be. I wouldn't be surprised if Barry kind of relapsed after the battles and has been a bit lost on what to do with himself in the more peaceful world Zatch created, only to find a renewed sense of desire here.

On a re-read, I am genuinely tearing up that Barry is looking forward to meeting back up with his old partner
He isn't just excited his friends are back, he's excited by what it means for him
And he can't even bring himself to imagine his old partner's face, just his silhouette, but the mere thought is making him so excited he feels he needs a real, bare knuckle brawl that'll take everything he has, to calm down.

That's some fucking character growth right there. Only thing that gets Barry as excited as a fight for his life is meeting his mentor.

Yeah, in theory, any demon that lost before their spellbook was full is eligible for this power up. I feel like I recall Kiyomaru acknowledging when they learned Gash's "last" spell (of course, the new dragon egg will become a new one, but it'll probably replace Baou in the book, which belonged to Gash's father)

I've had a thought since the story restarted. It's been a long time since the battle for king. So what if the bookmaster isn't alive anymore?
Will it be like with Zophis and they will partner with a descendant or will they find an entirely new partner?
