I had to re-read this chapter
In part because so much was happening I just lost some details
But also cause this was just so fucking badass
Brago and Sherry have not lost an ounce of their edge. It reminds you that it wasn't coincidence that Brago was the last to survive the tournament. Just so many creative uses for their early spells too. Using it for compression, or to help dodge attacks.
Knowing the mangaka, we're probably going to get a goofy chapter after this, he can't help himself.
But by god, this was an incredible chapter. It felt like a crystallization of Makoto Raiku's skill as a mangaka.
Like, he went weird for a while. Vector Ball was real weird. But this, this was a real return to form.

Man, the fights aren't taking their sweet time anymore, this ain't your return series where the characters have to relearn everything, they may have lost their full deck of spells... but they know their powers like they breathe.

Brago's use of his gravity to apply first aid was... very creative, I like to play with concepts of abilities in my mind and I never thought of such an application to gravity, and narratively it shows what Sherry's butler said before... behind the angst Brago had before there was the heart of a gentle king.

No wonder they use books now, old school spell casting takes forever, the effect is limited, and it comes with contractual limitations like binding pacts

Vector ball is good in the start but it got weird in the middle plot. No wonder he declared he gave up on that

Raiku might still be able to pick up Vector Ball from here. Over there they also kinda running a similar chant system that could either be just reference or intentional (one of the enemy in the end actually used Zeon's spell)... Especially now that we had a multiworld setting here too.

Sherry and Brago were always tied my favorite pair with Kiyo and Gash. I was so glad the author let Brago survive until the showdown with Clear was over. Love having them back, now.

Alright this was a great showing from Brago and Sherry but I'm still going to need some real convincing on what Sherry's been up to in the timeskip because like, you expect me to believe that THIS Sherry would put up with a cheating partner who doesn't give a shit about his family.

Like everyone else we've seen so far, I'm just completely on board with. Everyone else so far is exactly who I'd expect them to be given what we saw of them in Zatch Bell. But for Sherry... this better be a "there's more going on" kind of situation or I'm not going to be happy with her characterization.
