It's fine so far. But 2 years later and I feel it's still taking way too long to "get to the point". It's nice seeing all these characters and themes again, but I'd really like a clearer understanding of what Makoto wants to do here.
The chapters are twice as long as the were in the original run, so it does take more time to get a new one. As to what the goal for the story is, it's a secret at the moment. In the first series there was an obvious end goal, and the biggest arcs were tangential to that goal. In this, we don't know what the villain's plan is yet, but that's fine.
We're already seeing interesting things being done with the resurrection of demons, and how their wishes are being used to make them do things they don't want to do. I'm honestly excited to see how Makoto uses this to flesh out characters. His strength in writing is with characters and their relationships with one another. Give him time to work. The first series took just shy of 7 years to finish. This is a long journey worth taking.
