I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt and see where there going with this arc. I just binged the series so I think the effect of the monthly wait isn't really taking its toll on me at this point. I surprisingly find most of the side characters interesting so I don't mind their increased focus for an arc as long as we get back to the main couple by next vol.

Given that the series is selling so well, I think it's starting to enter ensemble cast territory. Kurumi and Naoi will obviously continue to have focus, but it could start veering more into their interactions with side characters.

This goddamn manga. The tension manages to thread the needle between tragedy and triumph, with the scales tilting this way and that without ever decisively landing. All of these girls are messed up to some degree, but so far most of them (sans Kudou and perhaps Mine) have enough sense that they're able to kind of stumble their way through rather than completely fall off the tracks. I think that's what makes it so engaging: it's entirely believable that this ends up being one of those stories where for all the struggle and conflict the majority of the cast get to have an out n' out happy ending, but it's equally believable that things go to hell and end on a bittersweet or even downer ending.

The fact that even Isanuma noticed that small bit of paint and immediately acted on it by asking Mine is refreshing, given how often characters like her get played as completely oblivious rubes. Details like that are what help make the story so compelling, since there's a genuine and believable chance she actually tries to do something about this. Which would definitely be a massive shake up.
