My prediction is the new teacher will try to reach out to the students that Horie was neglecting, Naoi in particular due to what he did to her. The new teacher might try to integrate Naoi into class activities more, so that she can bond with the others. This could be good for Naoi, but could end up triggering Kurumi's own abandonment issues. Volume 4 showed that the thought of Naoi even having a potential friend made her uneasy, as up until now she's been able to monopolize Naoi's attention.

I think Kimura showing up in volume 5 wasn't a coincidence. She appeared in the volume 1 leaflet and seemed to have a crush on Naoi. She's also on the library committee when Naoi's been shown to enjoy reading. So, she could be the first classmate that Naoi tries to become friends with. And her having obvious feelings for Naoi would stoke Kurumi's jealousy even more. So, this arc might end up having Naoi improving while Kurumi struggles to adapt to the changes.

There have been hints in the main story and some of the leaflets that Naoi is actually a very talented student, except she doesn't currently try on anything other than her grades. If she starts putting in the effort, she could end up outshining alot of the better students, even Kurumi in some aspects.

Naoi beginning to flourish in a more supportive/nurturing environment while Kurumi starts to backslide in her own feelings of jealousy would be a nice mirroring of their current dynamic into the next Act of the story, as well.
And, would set up a chance for Naoi to be the one to show up for Kurumi as the latter stumbles. And coming to her rescue against Kudou at the climax of this volume would be a great start to that change-up.

Hopefully we don't have a Full Switch between them, where Kurumi ends up in as bad a place emotionally over any feelings of jealousy as Naoi did in terms of apathy at the heaviest portion of this current arc with her truancy and being ostracized. If only because I'd like to see the characters growing over time, even as they move forward and fall back.

But Naoi being a gifted student, especially if she and Kurumi can navigate any hurdles in the way of their budding relationship and they find themselves in a better place, could also come in handy in going to higher education--especially as it could give Kurumi another pillar of support in escaping her home situation and getting away from her overbearing mother (as the two of them could ensure the other get good entrance exam results/recommendations from this new, better teacher, or something).

If you compare it to chapter 23, then Kokoro did worse here by not intervening immediately when she noticed Kudou following Kurumi out of the classroom. It seems she'll remain in the background here as a support, just giving Naoi the information she needs to act instead.
