"I also want to teach him about the philosopher's stone" seems like an incorrect translation. It seems the way the mc uses the stone isn't really understood by the translator, resulting in mistakes in translation.

@4stjack Yeah, the actual thing is more like "[Like I taught him how to make tea,] I want to teach him about the philosopher's stone," (or, according to our TL, "Well, I also want to teach you about philosopher's stone…") so it doesn't specify whether it's teaching about the history of it, how to use it, how to make it, or anything else. Changed the pronouns because it's narration… but the whole thing is kinda weird. I assume it's intentionally vague…? So we didn't want to make it sound more natural, by saying what it would be taught, because we didn't know for sure, and it could be misleading that way. But, yeah. Thank you, for pointing that out. Definitely a weird part.

(Though, it's worth mentioning that our TL at the time—we have a new one, for the chapters after this—wasn't very experienced, so it's definitely possible that it was a translation error, in the beginning. Unfortunately, the TL that did that chapter can't be asked for sure, because they've been on a hiatus, and will be for quite a while.)

I like how this chapter subtly points out *why* it would have been a bad idea for him to replace the gold he "vanished" last chapter: the word's already gotten out about the vanishing act, so replacing it would be noticed, and having people learn he has the ability to make gold would be a Bad Idea. Hopefully, at least those in charge have learned a lesson about what quantity of material to use in such experimentation.

If I deprive him of his freedom and force a job on him, I will have the moral high ground
You see guys, socialism works when you have magical powers to compell people to work.

@boag I'd gotten used to these stories being self-aware of the fact that no matter how cool and OP you are, you can't just "save" every single unfortunate person you meet since there's alway going to be more unfortunate people. You have to address the issue from its roots. It'd be fine if he would just admit that it's an inherently selfish action.

so he give the thief some skills to survive on his city, since the thief said that he doesn't have anything other than stealing...

@Nk9bjP4A lol it actually same on every prisons on the world, they become 'slave labor' by force them learning useful skills so when they released from prison, hoping the skills they learning on there can be useful to searching a better jobs, rather than back to become a thief or criminals...
but all of that back to each other's personalities ~

@Aretheus
its a child like mentality where having super powers that pretty much bend everyones will to the supreme power of the MC, is not only the correct moral choice, but the MC will get a harem of girls that love him for it.

thats an immediate red flag for a shitty isekai, and this one in particular seems to be in a rush to collect every single one in a record rate, i mean were already at chapter 3 and its hit almost every single stupid cliche ever.

@nematoda Well, yes, many countries around the world have forced labor in prisons, but I don't think it is entirely true that this is done to give them useful skills when the inmates get out of prison. I think there are some prisons with education programs that give prisoners high school or college level courses, but if you read some articles about the majority of prison labor programs, they seem to just be manual labor like farming, road construction, making clothing and soap, etc. Hardly useful skills. And those type of work might not be what they had been doing before entering prison, or not what they are interested in doing after they get out. They get paid almost nothing for the work, don't really get any labor rights, and at the same time they are charged fees for use of prison facilities.

@Nk9bjP4A "farming, road construction, making clothing and soap, etc. Hardly useful skills."
lol, all of that is useful skills, without that we can't enjoy delicious foods, or go anywhere with our car, using set of stylish clothes and bodies clean from the dirts with soap....
saying all of that "hardly useful skills" is an heavy insult to them, you live with their hardworks....

and its Prison, not working place, they are there for punishments, not working, of course they didn't get paid...
if they getting paid, i rather go to prison instead....
