More like the author's bad attempt at building tention. Which was immediately counted by needing to be home for dinner.

And they did the same thing when he was being tested. They killed like ten-ish doggies on screen before heading back. But when cashing out, there was something like forty magic gems/stones/cores converted to the cash he took home.
