to be brutally honest, this manga's plot and characters are shit. it feels like it was written by a preteen girl

I read it and finally got caught up to the current chapter ( 71) Man this is a weird story. At first, it's all goofy kind of charming and interesting. But all of a sudden the story starts taking itself way too seriously.

We just met a new chick around the current chapter ( 71) And I honestly see a romance between her and Jin Lingfeng being much more interesting and believable. The actual MC kind of is a blank slate and she's had a complete personality change more than twice throughout the story. First, she was a bookworm that was only interested in her grades while taking care of her siblings. Then she's suddenly infatuated with Jin Lingfeng and then she is a completely different person. Her appearance has changed a lot and I can't even recognize her when compared to her at the start of the story.

I dislike how the two MC's were really goofy at the start and now they're constantly serious.

The story also acts like Jin Lingfeng is like the stories about a CEO of a big company and a small time girl falling in love. It's kind of weird and if they really wanted to they could probably change a bit of the story and have Jin Lingfeng be a CEO instead of an idol.

The story isn't great but I do find enjoyment in it.

@SovietWeeb I actually tried to follow the story but I don't really understand what is happening...

So the current chapter (ch.71) took place 1 year ago? Is the male interacting with the current MC Jin LingFeng? They were calling him Jin ShiXiong or something though.. Also I thought that Jin Lingfeng is in a relationship with the first MC (or at least he should be a year ago) so why is he interacting with some chick named Lina? Like the timeline doesn't make sense at all. Also the male looks way older than LingFeng (this male has lines under his eyes whereas LingFeng doesnt) and Lingfeng has a black streak in his hair which this new male doesn't have one. I'm really confused at the events right now. Not sure what is happening.

also I totally agree... this manhua is taking itself way, way too seriously. it feels like there is two different stories happening. but it's not properly explained so I'm just really confused

@Seynee shi xiong isn’t a name, it’s a title. It either refers to upper class men or under class men. It’s like sempai or kouhai, but Chinese.

@aquariumtourmaline It may very well be his name but...

shī xiōng
senior male fellow student or apprentice
son (older than oneself) of one's teacher

Maybe check facts before you call me completely incorrect. You see it more often in cultivation comics such as Xianxia, Xuanhuan, and Wuxia, where things take place in a much more pre-modern culture. You have masters and disciples and thus elder disciples are the shi xiong’s of younger disciples. I can’t say I blame you if you don’t read those, however, given they’re not exactly as romance/drama oriented as this is.

@LordPigeater7

The original text was "金世雄先生 以及他美丽 的太太!" where in the beginning it says "金世雄先生" meaning "Jīn Shìxióng xiānshēng" with the diacritics.

Unless you're saying that it says Mister Senior Jin (double honorifics), Jin Shixiong is a name. Get your facts right. Thanksss

@LordPigeater7 please know that while the spelling of the pinyin (sound of the words) may be the same, the characters are definitely not. The shī xiōng you're talking about is written thusly 师兄, while the original text says 世雄 (pronounced shì xióng). Nice try but very wrong understanding of Chinese, so please don't try to confuse others.
