What a shame.
Running 150ish miles is such a ridiculous thing to imagine a bunch of people who have never trained for it do. I know this is a weird place to get hanged up after all the literal impossible feats they have done so far but maybe cause I have more context with running.
Most people burn through their carbs/sugar after 20 miles and they start to deal with the many dangerous effects of that. That's why the last leg of the marathon is so rough. It gets worse when you try and go for 52 miles or 100 miles.

I agree, at least some of their other feats can be chalked to adrenaline at escaping for their life, but this is a ridiculous idea that is extremely life threatening since being tired would make them easy prey for zombies
Pretty ridiculous tbh. I'm not a running expert or anything but I'm pretty sure that you need to be a world class runner with years and years of experience to tackle an ultramarathon like this without severely hurting yourself.
