Well, if the Husband dreamt of travelling the world, perhaps that's why he chose the job as a pilot, but due to... perhaps similar instances of the job Akira had, the Husband had too much work that he couldn't spend his time with his Wife and instead planned for those in retirement, but since the apocalypse occured, they were free and could do their dreams earlier than planned.
