Only thing I can think is someone's convinced that leaving the stops open is allowing the instrument to maintain a more even temperature/humidity throughout. (I don't believe it's actually going to make a meaningful difference.)

Would that even do anything to an electropneumatic (?, has little electromagnets for the valves, correct me if I used the wrong term) organ when it's not powered on? Question purely out of interest.

Maybe? Stop sliders are sometimes actuated differently than the key action, so it's possible. At any rate, it's just a guess as to why, and I don't think it would have a meaningful effect anyway.

So are all of the asian students on their last semester cram season? Man those mom's chanklas must be pretty hard over there if they are that focused on making sure they only get A+++++++++ on their exams.
