Like others mentioned, the Guide drained her of all negative emotions to power himself back again.
But it's not like that girl has any other choice either, as even her house is basically dead. If she break the engagement with that guy, she would probably not get to marry anyone else.

It's more that she's trapped there with no way out, she reasons inside her thoughts that she's the only one who rebuild an entire House, she expects to obtain absolute power. Additionally the noble she had an affair with probably abandoned her the moment her House became racked with House Petack's debt. He probably only went after her for her family's wealth in the first place. The Guide unwittingly helps Katerina avoid getting the Liam ex-wife ending.

Losing the negative energy only makes her feel less hung-up about it. The presence of negative energy makes people cling to problems instead of just getting over it.

Her motivation is slightly devious though it isn't evil imo. I wrote the LN's explanation above this post if you're curious. It looks like what was happening with Katerina was a slight nod to Liam's previous life.
