Translation is a bit rough but serviceable. Log cabin is the term I'd usually see for that type of dwelling.

Yeah something is very wrong. The sudden baseball bat and goblins. It seemed like a skip happened of several days. Which is ether terrible pacing as they are rushing through content. Which would indicate this being a add for the LN and that they intend to skip over a lot. Or its missing or even out of order pages. Skips during the set up are always a massive red flag.
