This one had potential but it really did feel squandered by the story somehow. Still sad to see it go.

Hi, first time poster here, I appreciate the viewpoint of "well that was nice and pleasant" and also like the "that marks a new start for ruck" but I feel like everyone is giving this story too much credit, wth was that? I don't even really agree with the "muscle mommy" being introduced and then not traveling with her sister, instead we get the tsundere knight that has had almost no screen time, also is nobody going to point out that the story just ended with, 'leon hit the knight with poison so ruck threw a rock at him and the story ended'
How is nobody else losing it over this, is there a rule on this forum that we can't be critical of manga here in our comments or is everyone else her waaaay too accepting? He never even got his keepsake of his mother back, he never even showed his other party members how strong he got, infact they just got removed from the story entierly instead of having them judge leon for being insane, this author just writes characters and plot points then throws them away to end the story fast, I can only assume out of boredom or to focus on other projects, at chapter 19 I would have recommended this manga, but now at chapter 20 knowing it's the ending it's a huge thumbs down

It seems you’ve missed some crucial points:

1. The manga is an adaptation, meaning the original story doesn’t end here. I’m pretty sure the original story continues from where this ended and addresses many of the points you are complaining about.

2. This manga got axed, meaning they were removed from continuing the serialization. That means they are extremely limited on how many chapters they can wrap it up. Considering this is an adaptation I doubt they wanted to jump ahead and conclude important plot points as it would spoil the story for those that might be interested in reading the original works.

When you take these 2 points into consideration then you’ll understand that there is no reason to be mad with how it all ended. That’s just how the manga industry works. If a series is not popular enough then they get their serialization ended prematurely (i.e. axed) to make space for other promising stories that could become more popular.

I'm not at all completely certain, but based on the MTL description of the Light Novel's volume 2, it starts going to an entirely different story arc. Also, I find it entirely strange just how completely different the mangaka drew Ruck. There's always going to be differences in style between LN and manga, but this just goes beyond anything...

Like, the only things that are the same are:
1) His name is Ruck Storage.
2) His skill is [Luggage Carrier]

I don't know if this can really be called an axing when it is more likely to be classed as a one volume promo adaption. A lot of these LN/WN "adaption" mangas fail to progress beyond the original work's volume 1.

Huh wait so we could’ve had twink Ruck? And for some reason artist drew him as a normal adult?

Anyway KS thanks for TLing this to the end. We finally get to see Leon scared and pissing his pants.

In a couple words, "expectation management?" When something with the tags this story has rushes to an abrupt conclusion and I see that [END] tag at 20 chapters, I'm satisfied enough that it has an ending that wraps the major story points, leaves the nice parts open, and doesn't somehow go back and ruin any memories I had of enjoying it while it lasted. Or cause the device I'm reading it on to explode and send glass into my face or something. For a pretty low bar of "enjoying," too. Everyone in the comments just recognized the business reality of what happened and went "Yeah, one of those. Oh well." Criticism of this series with higher expectations than that feels... somehow mean.

You don't have to look too hard to find manga around here that get one or two "author kys" every release, so... that ain't it, promise.

I guess it works but am I wrong or did he not even get his stolen medallion back?
Yeah,even with 19.5 basically being a whole chapter in itself,it wasn't shown.

The other fellas have found evidence of the novel but can't seem to find the actual contents,so what happens from that point on is still unknown.

What we do know is that this comics' artist made Ruck more of a hunk then the novels' artist.
I was curious enough to try and find out, but ran into a solid brick wall.

The MangaDex page says it's an adaptation, I found one info site that shows the LN cover and confirms it exists... and that's it. Can't find it on Novel Updates, can't find it on Google, can't find it on anywhere. Other than that cover I basically can't find evidence of its existence. What the hell.

Is Isekai Winter finally ending? All these series are ending prematurely.
Considering this wasn't a reincarnation story,I have to ask what you meant by "Isekai Winter".

el classico ln adaptation tho I can't even read it online fuggggg.
I really liked this series too, the concept had an amusing twist, the characters were charming, the girls were cute, the fight scenes were super fun, well drawn and easy to follow. It had all the makings of a series to go the distance that fuckng sucks it's over already.
Thanks for working on the series tho atleast I had a good time.

It's an adequate ending, it ends on a satisfying note.
I've definitely seen far worse axe endings, and advertisement mid-story endings; they've at least chosen a good spot to wrap things up, rather than ending on a cliff hanger, or on a seemingly normal chapter.

To be fair it could have been an isekai and barely anybody would have noticed the difference, it did feel pretty isekai-esque.
As for what he means, a complete guess but maybe he's likening the genre to homeless people and saying that lots of them aren't surviving the winter, that sort of meaning.
