Why does everything manga have to have multiple chapters just to illustrate that the "Bad guy" is an irredeemable piece of shit?

We already know! He poisoned a child for having dirty hands while being poor! First thing he did when we met him! We know he's trash!

Is the bar for acceptable behavior simply on the ground in Asia?
Like, poisoning children isn't that big of a deal, so we have to show that he is bad to everyone? Because... what; is there a normal line of thought that killing children is fine, as long as they were irritating? Or poor?
If the bad guy doesn't harm every possible human, then they get the Friendship Ending?

Not really. Fault does lie with Gaws.
The Hero was chilling in the bar, comes Gawes, calls him a fraudster, gets humbled, and man’s ego is so broken he goes onto challenging a Rock Dragon.
The Hero was simply the torch that lit up the powder keg that is his fragile ego. If humbling him in front of them is what it took to push him to the end, then he would’ve been in deep shite or commit a crime either way in his life.
Real question is why did Millia feel the need to go with him?

No. He had nothing to do with that part. That was most Dawes and co going to the Rock Dragon’s territory. Scumbag probably killed the parent and the child went a bit a ways to get revenge or level up and evolve.

If I remember correctly, Millia is such a caring pushover that Dawes just had to guilt trip her into going along.
