I agree Kirito is a generic protag but I don't watch the show for him, I watch it for literally everything else. Just like, go to the top manga or anime in any genre and you'll find good stories. ask people to recommend stuff if you're looking for good stories. better yet, go to different sites if you think Japanese content is just porn. Age doesn't matter here since I'm clearly mentally older than you. Wouldn't blame you for thinking solo is generic power trip slop since solo leveling fans were just throwing a fit about Jinwoo crying instead of aura farming. but no, Jinwoo actually depth to his character and solo is not some generic power trip fantasy. SAO doesn't need defending in my book, if you don't like it you don't like it, that's a valid opinion. But Kirito does; so I will defend him until the anime community treats him the same as every other generic MC. As currently the hate for generic isekai protags in general is all directed at him. As for you calling them slop, stop acting like you've watched either, if this got on Twitter or insta you'd be cooked alive. And Next you'll call the big three trash or smth. I don't feel like arguing with someone with the mental age of a 5 year old, so do not reply please, you can't take my braincells with your stupidity just because you're lacking in them. This isn't bad as exiled-from-the-hero's-party manga goes.
The concept is interesting, though the execution could be better.
The plot is at least somewhat novel; it's a cool new way a princess needs saving from a dragon...

I give it 7.5 of 10 - to get a higher grade, it needs more things that distinguish it from the rest. Iconic characters, genuinely funny jokes, excellent worldbuilding, well-designed metaphysics, that kind of thing. Or, in this case, a MC that's actually really sociable and affable instead of a standard flavour of introversion.

tbf. Japan comes out with an insane amount of garbage these days, specifically in the shonen demographic. Feels like 90% of the shonen manga that has come out in the last 5-10 years is lazily written isekai harem cookie cutter trash. Although there's been a few shonen pure romances I've seen recently that are pretty good. At least Japanese josei and seinen demographics seem to still be pretty good. Unlike Korean josei, which suffers from the same laziness and cookie cutter problems that japanese shonens have. I suspect Korean shonens will soon drop in quality as well... There's an awful lot of tower climbing, hunter, constellation stuff coming out lately, and I can imagine authors getting dumb with it pretty easily. I do have to hand it to Japan for not using 3D stock assets though. Those get tiring so fast.
And then there's China... A few absolute masterpieces, but overall pretty trashy across the board, specifically in both Josei and shonen.
