Great fight chapter, and I love that his spell is like a very risky version of Desintegrate. No hesitation, great strategy, GGs
Where did Ignore Defense and Ignore Level Gap Modifiers come from, they weren't there in Ch 1 when he first picked up the sword?
There's a down arrow on that 'screen' of Durandal in Ch 1, implying that it has more skills than shown.
The ring screen on the next page doesn't have the down arrow.
Parried the attacks. His wrist was the first time he hit his body.Is Durandal's ignore defense chance based or something? Why didn't it work the first time?
Not a psychopath... More a pragmatic realist.Had somewhat forgotten that the MC was a psychopath until this chapter I guess.
It consumes MP to take opponent's HP. If your MP isn't high enough, you go splat; that's why the item that replicates it is so often referred to as, "the orb of self destruction". His MP is much higher now with several mana-based classes supporting him, as well as much higher levels, as well as the fact he was using Durandal actively to counteract the MP drain immediately afterwards.
Considering how you're forced into the Thief class upon stealing and with no avenues talked about so far to remedy it (Michio immediately became a thief but is able to change his jobs at will) you're seemingly forced into such a life. In for a penny in for a pound as the saying goesThese dudes were mask off rapist murderers, they're beyond reforming and freely forfeited their lives.
Holy snapples a sci-fi isekai series the only other one I know that goes there isMezametara Saikyou Soubi to Uchuusenmochi Datta node, Ikkodate Mezashite Youhei toshite Jiyuu ni Ikitai
(Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!)
Sci-fi series. Kills space pirates in the first chapter and never looks back (Hiro enjoys killing actually), bangs harem quick. Relatively OP, but comes with the territory of Isekai.
Thanks for the translation!
The down arrow exists on every character he sees in that first chapter so... let's be honest, this was added just for this fight and he had to cut or stab through armor in the first fight. There's a down arrow on that 'screen' of Durandal in Ch 1, implying that it has more skills than shown.
The ring screen on the next page doesn't have the down arrow.
Durandal is the max point sword, a level 6 (Fragarch (I think) was the level 5) these skills were likely just added in this scene.Additionally, it depends on how his points are placed. More points gets him more effects in the summoned sword.
Probably a holdover from the Isekai Grandaddy Mushoku Tensei where a lot of the isekai tropes come from or at the very least popularized. The protag was viciously bullied and as a result has issues confronting people.Japanese MCs are not only reluctant to confront people, but they also can't commit to minecrafting them during the fight.
He murderer bandits because he thought he was in a video game in the beginning, then he murdered bandits (women even) in their sleep because he wanted to buy Roxanne. Not a psychopath... More a pragmatic realist.
He even acknowledges the fact that he is Not in Kansas Anymore after hearing the opinion of his Ladies..
Goes from "can we evade this?" to "It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it, and might as well be me.."
And then proceeds to do the job as efficiently as he possibly can, not holding back one bit to ensure their safety.
Proper warrior thinking.
In the web novel, the traits were listed when it was first described. My confusion when I first saw the sword in the manga was, where are the other traits? (I also forgot the sixth trait, about ignoring level correction, so always thought it had 5 total traits.)Where did Ignore Defense and Ignore Level Gap Modifiers come from, they weren't there in Ch 1 when he first picked up the sword?
My impression, influenced by old MMOs, is that it all makes sense. In an MMO, a job like the Warrior would have zero MP, because that job has no use for mana. In the world Michio is in, all jobs have a special ability that seems to run off of MP. We see that most explicitly when Sherry tries the Monster Fusion skill and cripples herself with depression the first time she uses it (with the implication that many Master Smiths would actually be ready to kill themselves on a failure that first time). There's still a problem though, he had basically all his jobs he has now minus wizard and yes they're higher levels, but ultimate the guy he exploded is around 8x the level of the guy he killed that nearly killed him and Michio's levels are only ~1.5x the target's, but the first time he used EE his jobs were roughly 3-4x the level of the dude he used it on. It just doesn't compute. Sure it's a small nitpick but the level scaling bugs the hell out of me because it's so inconsistent.
It was through the use of Equivalent Exchange that he earned Wizard, and Alchemist and Sex Maniac, both of which provide corrections to intelligence and MP, were not unlocked until afterwards, not to mention extra class slots, on top of significantly higher levels. His MP and INT correction is far higher now than it was then, and it is a skill that first uses all MP up before converting HP left over. The Thief he used it on initially was level 3, and the Explorer he used it on here was level 25. Thief gets only a slight correction to Agility, while Explorer only gets a small correction to Endurance; the Explorer has more HP, but compared to the MP gap he's jumped up, it's nothing like when he first used it. Levels do not matter if they are not in classes that provide corrections for the stats involved. That may be what you don't understand- that, and that class corrections only apply if equipped; most people only have the one so can't do something as powerful as he did there, unless they level up as a magic class to begin with.
Durandal is max point sword, yes, but no, those were not added in this scene. Durandal has, since its inception, even in the web novel version, had it.Durandal is the max point sword, a level 6 (Fragarch (I think) was the level 5) these skills were likely just added in this scene.
