100% agree. If not for the over the top loony toon level of "we are so evil" they would have been much more interesting characters to follow than the MC. I mean even rn. I can't follow along on why he suddenly is able to kill the combined might of the top of the lab when a chapter ago he had to escape for his life!At this point, I'm rooting for the bad guys.
- They're motivated, willing to put in long hours to work towards research.
- Self-sacrificing, willing to not only sacrifice their time but their entire lives to fight against someone who is threatening their cause.
- Upper management willing to be just as self-sacrificing as the lower employees.
- Intelligent enough to sniff out the MC during his infiltration attempt and have decent confidentiality protocols to avoid information breaches.
If their ultimate goal wasn't so cartoonishly evil ("Let's destroy the world! Yay!"), they would not only be the good guys, but also extremely competent good guys.
Yuuji is just too cautious. It's not that he wasn't able to take them head on, he was just unwilling to do so unless he was 100% certain he could. His default plan whenever things don't go as expected is to retreat and reassess. Frankly, this is the most annoying part of his character in that he doesn't take risks unless forced to. He also has a habit of trying to solve things with brute force until it doesn't work, then he remembers his other skills and tries to be more strategic.100% agree. He did it because he wasn't sure of their abilities, and had the means to do so in the moment. After the curse transformation, they outsped him even using the wasteful dragon wings spell, and they could use the Door of Ravager as well, so he could not escape them any longer, and decided to defeat them there and then.100% agree.
