Spoiler alert. Uzume, whose real name is Miyabi, was the only one who "stuck" by his side since he was a lil bullied 8yo shit. The relationship they had was one of master-slave (since she was a kid, she was and is very selfish, greedy and whimsical. She wants everything, and Shinba is like her personal slave). Obviously, he was gonna fall for her because of being the only one who spent time with him, even if that time was for being Uzume's slave. But once he confessed im HS, she rejected him just because she would never go out with a loser. That and the fact she fled away to the states to start a career as an actress. Now she's back to claim her personal slave back, but she found out he has a girlfriend.

Now with the raw:
sadly, Uzu... Miyabi Amano, during her childhood, was the popular type for being a child actress, but kids only talked to her because of that and asked her for connections to meet other popular actors or idol songers, making her pent up some anger. Shinba (deemed as the class otaku) was the 1st who talked to her as her real self (Miyabi). A montage of her life outside school (classmates asking her for connections to meet idols, producers demanding her more effort bc she wasn't gonna be a child actress anymore and mom telling her to get used to live on her own) and how Shinba was her only outlet to a normal life (he also gave her an Umbrellaman figure) and how the reason for her to reject and leave him was because her mom told her to go to the United states. There, she swore herself to rise as a star, become the couple of a celebrity and not letting herself be dragged down by a loser like Shinba, deeming said crush as an adolescence fling, but one night in her solitude, she saw the photo she took with him and the Umbrellaman he gave to her and began to cry a river.

Back to the present day, Shinba overhears, Miyabi once again tells him her feelings, but also that she couldn't reciprocate back then because she didn't know when she was gonna return, so she could neither ask him to wait for her, and she had the plan to confess to him once she returned because she thought he was gonna keep being the same unattractive loser he always was (is) and by rejecting him, she was gonna also stop being childhood friends with him, but it happened she saw how he found another person, and there was no reason for her to be next to him if she enacted her plan to confess to him, only to be rejected. So she made all that plan (as seen in chapters 12 to 14) of making him remember his memories of his first love and then let him confess again. Shinba tries to counter, but Uzu... Miyabi tackles him to the ground and angrily demands him an answer on which kiss felt better to him, hers or Hizumi's. And that's how the 1st half of ch. 16 ends.

Imo, Pretty sure Shinba is gonna reject her back the next chapter, and Namikoi is gonna be one of the reasons, the other, obviously Hizumi and how she stood by his side despite of his own patheticness

I don’t know japanese but I still checked out the Raw form to try to understand the storyline from drawings.

And from what I understood, it will not be that wholesome or smooth.

It was never wholesome to begin with. Since the beginning there was a strong psychological aspect despite of being on the surface, a darker Nagatoro-type romcom.

First you have 2 broken people as the main couple: an MC stuck in a cycle of childish pathetism despite of trying to get out of there without success who somewhat managed to land an extremely alluring yet trauma filled onee-san type gf. A person who, as she said, is a "strange woman who spends her time alone in a beaten up theatre". That sentence alone, aside from the "hateful memories", how she fears someday she'll stop feeling loved by Shinba and how she enjoys having her bf being pathetic for some reason is a big door for several issues related to abandonment. In normal circumstances, they should have never met, but it was due to those abysmal circumstances they began to date.

And now, the childhood friend (as she admitted during her breakdown in ch16.1) is another broken individual who resented being only noticed for her status as a genius child actress, and due to miscommunication and acquired greed, blew away her only chance at having a sincere friend and couple (despite of being a loser superhero nerd), only realizing what she lost after feeling herself lonely and finding out that, contrary to her fears, he managed to move on and score a "better" gf. However, she reacts with violence towards those who "stole" him and her methods to win him back are quite enslaving and ungrateful af.


Considering the premise, this may enter into misery porn territory once the FeMC's hateful memories and abandonment fears begin to manifest, the only sane and apparently wholesome characters are all people who are uninterested in the MC (Drugstore boss, senpai and the 3 girls from that beach).

Besides, if you look at the author's twitter, back then when vol. 2 was released, you'll find out he is a big fan of a certain author and manga and admitted he drew some inspiration from that work for this series. Hint: made by a female and had a controversial rushed end.

16.2 is out already, and just as i thought Shinba finally rejects Miyabi back after she bombed him with questions about which kiss and date he enjoyed the most, which one he wants to take baths, have... dirty things and be by his side (he answered Hizumi on everything), saying it was Hizumi who was by his side during some of his lowest moments and that's why he loves her (he used daisuki this time). Still wants to keep talking about superhero movies with her, Miyabi tells him he's a nerd, a brat and a loser who only is good at making a fool of himself, but is glad he hasn't changed at all.

Then he apologizes with Hizumi for being kissed by his childhood crush and moves forward kissing her. She decides since that moment to start living with him, because she got a spare key for his house.

Short spoiler for 17.1

Drugstore girls think Shinba and Hizumi did dirty things because of starting to live together (not yet tho). Shinba once again fucks up his intentions and Hizumi once again has her Shinba roasting session, Miyabi sends Shinba an Umbrellaman figure as a gift and we're revealed Shinba has an older sister... and from the last page, they seem to have lost contact and she is pissed about that because she is kinda obsessed with him (her room walls is filled of photos of them together when he was younger)
