Why in every single recent manga & anime series dragons' only purpose is to be slain?
Seriously - stop use a dragonslayer trope, why aren't dragons allowed to stay alive?
Why if dragons stay alive they become pets?
Why are dragons' dragon forms so hated by fans and writters that nobody even pays attention on them?

Because they're hard to draw and scalie culture is more niche than you think.

I suppose because they're hard characters to write; you have to give them some depth, a wise and grand feeling. That's apparently not interesting a lot of writers nowadays.

I think Shield Hero had a pretty cool dragon.
Though I am basing that off the novel, but the manga adapts from it so it's gotta be good right?

Obligatory:
I haven't seen that since this was a thing:

Does the corpse show up every episode?

Not like I read a lot of fantasy manga, but surely there's some manga out there that focuses on living dragons.
Why I quit being a demon lord (not a manga though, but manhwa series have similar issue).
GATE.

All joking and odd kinks aside, the Western portrayal of dragons (which is what's being used as the basis for a lot of the manga/anime/LN fantasy written at the moment) is as adversarial - they steal and eat cattle or other domesticated flock animals, they steal and hoard treasure, they compete with or outright slay humans to be top predator in a territory. They have different motivations than humans, which makes them 'foreign', and are generally exceptionally powerful physically and sometimes magically, which makes them good candidates for a big bad. Plus, dragons are generally represented as reptilian and therefore kind of creepy, in the same way snakes and frogs and insects and other non-mammals are 'creepy'.

You can write them as allied or even cooperative characters, but they tend lose something of their exotic nature in the process of doing that - in order to coexist peacefully, there has to be some commonality.

I mean series where dragons are not evil.
Also I mean series where dragons get no personality and just being dangerous. Writters nowadays fail to make proper dragon villains.
