Or better yet "if you go do this to me I'm gonna tell my brother you're trash." Which isn't wrong considering they're surface level buttering him up. Idk his relation with his bro but, normally he would have his back. I think he would be PISSED.
There are ways to solve this...but it is a new way to introduce relationship apprehension into a romcom so kudos author.

And it annoys the ever living shit out of me how common this is where they give you a premise and then immediately abandon it the same chapter "I'm never trusting anyone ever again!! b-but she showed me common courtesy so maybe she loves actually does love me!!" mf had 0 resolve to begin with and folded under 0 pressure. Another annoying trope is when reincarnation mc's make up rules like "I better not get involved in the plot or stand out" and then they immediately break their own rule -_-

I don't mind if it's environment driven situations that lead to developments but this guy tripped over his "promise" on nothing. Basically just scream of a sad boy vibes the way he got flustered over a single greeting. Not to mention he hasn't shown any interesting trait other than being sad about his situation , granted it is the first chapter-

Part of it is 8man's negative view on the world, the other is Japanese society and group think. Most people are expected to be two faced, smiling on the outside while keeping their true thoughts to themselves. The groups flow and feelings take prescedence over your own, don't stand out by disagreeing.

Why is the demographic for this Shoujo?

Although most Shoujo are from the FMC's POV there are some that are from the MC's POV. Note something that you see here that really point this toward being a Shoujo and not a Shounen: all of the girls' chests.

Another Shoujo that is MC's POV and believably-endowed girls is Ore Monogatari!!. I'm anime-only on that one but some day I'll read the manga as it is so short.

It was one of the many incidents but most important reason for his isolation is that due to a car accident on his way to HS opening ceremony (which caused by none other than Yui herself and the reveal causes him to make the infamous "nice girls" speech) he had to spend time in hospital and missed the first couple of months in his new highschool. And by the time he returned, most of the class was already got to know eachother so he just gives up and stays isolated which makes him even more jaded over time till sensei notices it and forces him in the club. Rest is history.
