Musaka saying TOO good is actually opposite IRL. After Japan Cup, Oguri was showing alarming signs of fatigue and exhaustion. Everyone at Miho Training Centre was scared about it. This also garner heavy criticism to the team on how much abuse they placed on Oguri Cap with high likely reason of doing so because Kondo Toshinori bought Oguri Cap from Sahashi Isoo for 550 Million Yen and he was rushing to get his money's worth.... so 6 consecutive, harsh races was burdened on Oguri from All Comers down to Arima Kinen in 1989.

As expected, everyone was not having it. They really got pissed on the abuse Kondo placed on Oguri and everyone did not buy the excuse Kondo, Setoguchi Trainer, and Tsujimoto Trainer had. Oguri's groom, Ikee-san noticed that Oguri was sluggish and Oguri Cap's former trainer in Kasamatsu, Sumi Trainer pleaded that Oguri should take rest as his hooves were seen to be busted and cracking from pressure.

So yeah... An example of why Horse Racing have bad reputation sometimes. Even Minai Katsumi, main jockey of Tamamo Cross and Oguri, was really sorry for Oguri during 1989.

Well there's the dramatic story of Sakura Star O and how the Sakura Commerce and his trainer, Hirai Yuuji was emotionally invested with the Star O

Sakura Commerce, the company loves their horses and trusted Hirai with the training of Star O. When Star O's injury persisted, worsened, and eventually took his life (around the derby that Oguri missed), both the company and trainer were grieving hard. They didn't agree to euthanize the horse back in 1987 and instead, the company wasted no effort for Star O's treatment. Hirai spent days after days with barely any sleep massaging and accompanying Star O in the stable.

During Star O's final days, he lost weight from 450+ kilos down to 300~ kgs... Hirai also lost weight from 65 down to 50+ almost unable to lift his own arms tending to the horse.
