How exactly?

Also you've ignored the part where I said that I'm assuming that a misunderstanding plot is coming as a means of inciting drama related to the premise, which I think would be significantly worse. That's the context for what I'm saying, if you somehow didn't catch it the first time
Why would anyone want to read a story about a guy getting trauma from girls preferring his brother instead of him, only to fall for a girl who wants his brother and end up being her rebound when she realizes she can't have him?

Idk about you, but that's kinda lame.

I won’t speak for the other guy, but if the whole plot was about a guy falling in love with a rebound from his big brother, that would make for a way worse story. The heroine would immediately be so deep in the negative, there’s no good way to salvage it
I wasn't suggesting that she decide that she likes him more after being rejected by her brother, I think it would be an interesting exploration of his issue to have her realize that she likes the main character more than the brother after having gotten close to him.

As for "being in the negative," I get where you're coming from, it's not flattering for her, but I personally prefer unique situations and explorations of complex human emotions over the "yeah this perfect girl who everyone loves fell in love with me for literally no reason with no downsides whatsoever because she's perfect" that we get from so many of these stories

As mentioned in my reply above this one, I don't think she should be a rebound. What I want is a more thoughtful exploration of what seems to be the overarching theme of this story.

I said that what I mentioned would be more interesting to me because it is less interesting from my perspective for the premise to either 1) fall by the wayside in favor of an idealized romance, since I think that it's just fundamentally bad storytelling to ignore the overarching idea of your story as it goes on, or 2) resurface through some kind of misunderstanding on the main character's part which then resolves itself after some arbitrary amount of time in favor of an idealized romance (which I think is really likely).

I think that the idea that this manga is built on has a lot of potential for complex character writing, so that's what I would like to see. Hopefully that makes sense

You don't get it.. she could be into him, don't you understand ? 🥲

Honestly the amount of times trauma in manga was actually trauma, could probably be counted on one hand, the rest calls it "trauma" to make it come across as oh so heavy, but in the same chapter they magically throw away said trauma which was "tormenting" them for years
Obviously the setup is that this girl is going to end up being different. The problem is that every girl who’s approached him for years have all used him. Why would he suddenly trust this girl?

A condition like his that causes him to completely distrust all women can absolutely be characterized as trauma. Why not? Trauma is a general term that can be applied to a lot of conditions of different severities. I don’t see why people are trying to treat it like it should be reserved for SA victims or something.

Nah this isn't trauma, he just has trust issues

Hes not like some MCs where he breaks out into hives or starts hyperventilating just because a girl said hi to him or some shit
He was conditioned for years to understand that the girls who approach him are all sneaky bitches. Without exception, every time he decided to trust them he was fucked over. That goes way beyond “trust issues”.

The reaction you’re describing could have actually happened to some people but he’s learned to armour himself against disappointment instead.

"The Most Beautiful Girl In School Flirts With Me, So I Almost Got The Wrong Idea, But There's No Way She'd Actually Like Me"

This describes the MC perfectly.

It's a shojo. The target audience is girls. Most likely it's not going to turn into the generic shonen romcom if I had to guess.
I have seen this setup in both shounen and shoujo and in both MC gender combinations. This sort of wish fulfilment is pretty gender-agnostic

My guess how the plot gonna be
MC thinks FMC is after his brother
FMC is actually after MC
MC brother is after FMC
something like that
I don't think Mc brother is not gonna be into fmc, i think the brother will be supportive, can't be sure though

This guy looks handsome though, maybe not as much as the big brother but still.

this premise is BS . the mc says he doesn't "trust" girls but clearly he does, and he feels this main girl might like him, so the bs about "she's talkin to me to reach my brother" is way too stupid. the author only uses that as an excuse, and doesn't show how girls actually use him to get his brother. i know people like everything with cute art and a cute girl, but this is just not peak like many commented already. this is pretty meh and a simple, same romcom as always

Problem with that now is that we have a girl here that actually wants him and not his brother, yet due to that trust issue he refuses to accept it

I mean, does he? As far as we can see, all that "doubt" is tied with a single strand of hair. He folds immediately as soon as FMC comes in to view. He looks like someone who is yet to have any serious mental hang ups concerning woman or his brother. He says he does in his mind in a very cringy manner but his actions? Not so much.

You have a valid point, there was one manga (forgot the name of it) where the MC was in a similar situation (minus the brother) he swears up and down that he doesn't want anything to do with the 3 women who did him dirty, but then he randomly does a 180 and acts goofy in front of those women, even helped them out at times when he had no obligation to do so

Seriously had me questioning if what he was going thru was sincere or if it was just straight bullshit (heavily leaning on the latter)

It was annoying to witness

Yeah that's what i mean. Premise is fine if we could actually see the effects of this so called "distrust" of his. But so far he is just a straight up "unreliable narrator". You just can't take him seriously when he broods over it one second and immidiately melts in to a puddle of touchless virgin as soon as FMC comes in close proximity.

This is just your run of the mill shounen romcom with an insecure self-insert loser + goddess who fall in love for seemingly no reason (i'm sure we will see in following chapters that its due to some cliche "he picked my pen up" "he is so nice" type of cringe shit)

Aka no stakes no conflict wholesome souce "get married already" comment spam slop.

Mangadex should close the ratings for any new series until 5 chapters is published as well. i mean 1000 9+ rating after the first chapter? Really?
