Judging by how she entered the scene riding on it, I think Naga couldn't actually walk/run properly for much longer, and used the last of her strength in her legs to jump on it.

She couldn't outrun it anymore because of her leg so she couldn't make it to the spell location. I don't know if she grabbed onto it to steer it to the spell or if she was doing a last ditch effort to fight it and they coincidentally ended up at the spell.

Her grappling with it happened after she got the leg twinge, and they noted that she stopped it there for a notable period of time. If she was capable of getting to the rear side of the quakehog, she wasn't so hurt that she couldn't have dodged as I indicated and wouldn't have risked the spell going awry as it did.
