Shueisha? Did it got officially picked up or something?
A dmca of this scale seems really concerning. If manga companies do similar requests for more and more of the series on the site, and this continues, would we end up with an empty mangadex, left with nothing but original Manga uploaded by users or something? Especially with just how large the extent of this takedown seems to have been in just one go, this is very troubling. It is unrelated. We have received a dmca request for those chapters.
Note that this is the first time a takedown happened on this scale. Before it was just singular manga on the direct request of the author, or Naver because they're scary.
The chapter listings (a v3 feature where you can see the chapter but can't access the images) will return with the unavailable v3 feature. So for the users that use chapter read markers for tracking (please don't), don't worry your markers will return.
The users that want a list of what has been taken down will have to wait for said feature too.
true..manga as an entertainment only became popular outside japan because of piracy and fan translations beforeDamn shame as this will just redirect people to ad-filled piracy sites instead. Taking down stuff at this level probably hurts the industry more than it helps combat piracy. Not to mention it makes discovering series more difficult for new readers.
Really jarring to see your releases from the big publishers having their chapters just gone.and this is why we can't have nice things.
mangadex is in the way to become empty over time. even reading in raw Japanese isn't something these companies want westerners to do as they use geo blocking and stuff like that. most don't release english versions.
I wish every company playing the stupid capitalist crap card would just burn.
As did in this postHate how greedy these corporations are man :'( hope there's still some way for mangadex to bounce back, don't wanna go back to reading on ad filled sketchy website
i was on chapter 669 of hajime no ippo and was flying by volumesIt is unrelated. We have received a dmca request for those chapters.

It will stay as long as publishers allow it to. In other words, it will be taken down when we receive a DMCA request.Question to the mods, in some series part of the uploads are like Twitter and pixiv extras, stuff you'll basically never see in the manga volumes, will those be allowed to stay?
But if it's from Twitter and pixiv I'm not sure publishers can really claim it, it's literally not part of the manga nor their magazine / site / whateverIt will stay as long as publishers allow it to. In other words, it will be taken down when we receive a DMCA request.
It's looking really bad, looking up almost any series to find those scamy sites leads to literally hundreds of dmca'd notices and almost or no sites at all where you can freely read manga anymore, wish there was something we could do to help out and protect the site but there's nothing really, rip I guessAs did in this post

There's most likely no bouncing back
I guess translators now have only two choices, either migrate to another site, example, Batoto, which might in time receive dmca too, or upload their chapters in many places as possible so it's impossible to get removed from everywhere
I think it's time translators start uploading in many places as possible cause this might not stop unfortunately, publishers want people to use their reading apps after all, and in time more mangas might get official translations
Dark days are coming for fan translation and people will need to adapt
I'm not aware of any library export tools. With a situation like this, it makes me wonder more about whether there is a way to export all of our data. I've tried looking into third-party tools a year or two ago, but I couldn't find one and haven't had the time to make one.
I'm obviously not asking for anything infringing, but even an official way to export library items and read chapters (with relevant metadata needed to find items from official sources) would be extremely useful!
