No, the newer chapters are also going to be removed, and most likely uploads of those manga won't be allowed like for one punch man. They've already written about it earlier in the thread.I see that among the many Manga that were DMCAed, we can still see the very latest chapters (like the 3 latest ones). Does this mean that the site will work like Mangaplus? Like, we can still follow the Manga we read if we are up to date with them?
My guess would be that a lot of them are licensed in other languages, especially French. Most French people can read English. The majority of the manga that is gone doesn't even have an official release in the west. Do these publishers think they are losing money on something that never existed in the first place?
It's a pity. Mangadex was too good for this world I guess.
Remember the first iteration of MangaFox going under? I think it's on its like, fifth? sixth? iteration now...I survived the death of Onemanga. I can survive this. Shitty publishers can't even provide people all around the world a good site that has all manga series regardless of companies, that's not region locked or chapters split into parts, and no shitty lolcowlization. Unless they can give us a better experience than here and other piracy sites, pirated manga won't stop.
Backing all my reading list to other aggregator sites is a pain in the ass though
https://djtguide.github.io/Well I did the exercice to see if I can still read some of the mangas nuked. I need to either learn Japanese or wait 2 years for the translation to catch up.![]()
It's like an undiscovered species out there went extinct without ever being discovered.I wouldn't outright called my situation lucky even if my library mostly unaffected, think of those great series, old golds, more niche stuff you could have uncovered but can't anymore.
Peeps say go to aggregates site, but knowing some series may not be have backup site is regrettable since MD is the go to for group/solo scanlation to push their fan translation work instead of somewhere else due to reach and convenient.
Tbf, I rather forget that I know I missed something good rather than knowing all the missed opportunity 🥲.
Yeah while reading the thread I had that dekinai girl in my head. I can (not) escape Anki.https://djtguide.github.io/
Honestly I think Genki is better than Tae Kim, Tae Kim is probably good for reference but it's terrible to learn from as a beginner.
They won't, that's why we should persistUnless they can give us a better experience than here and other piracy sites, pirated manga won't stop.
I remember the form of Mangafox in like 2004-2005 where you had to open each page file separately like you're browsing Windows file explorer. The days before we could display and scroll down a whole chapter was quite painful for manga readingRemember the first iteration of MangaFox going under? I think it's on its like, fifth? sixth? iteration now...
Cooking Papa isn’t even licensed officiallyHow nice to see almost everything I was reading get nuked. They couldn't even leave Cooking Papa alone. Kodansha, only 24 chapters were translated OUT OF 1600+, WHY BOTHER?!
Damn. I was reading that and was happy to see someone picked it up again. These seldom released series gonna die a quiet death without anyone noticing. How nice to see almost everything I was reading get nuked. They couldn't even leave Cooking Papa alone. Kodansha, only 24 chapters were translated OUT OF 1600+, WHY BOTHER?!
The sad truth? You aren't wrong. The thing is Japanese publishers want us to pay per half a chapter like their domestic audience. Otherwise it's not worth the investment to them.
Most people used #lurk back then. Before that it was mostly torrents or e-mule or e-donkey or whatever their names were I think. Then I guess mangahelpers, then batoto, and then mangadex.I remember the form of Mangafox in like 2004-2005 where you had to open each page file separately like you're browsing Windows file explorer. The days before we could display and scroll down a whole chapter was quite painful for manga reading
People still use sadpanda even though fakku and that other site completely killed it with dmcas. You can only wonder how much this is going to kill the traffic on Mangadex, probably the only good thing that's gonna happen from this DMCA mass purge.
Piracy is not a service problem, it's a pricing problem. People just don't want to pay for something they're used to getting for free, and feel entitled to do so. That's the sad thing about scanlations really, it has made people expecting that reading manga is something you don't have to pay for. Most of the manga I read has no english release, when it does have it the volume costs 3 times as much, might as well just buy it on bookwalker in JP and pirate the english release at least then is more likely that the artist gets my money.
Oh god. I remember that was such a fucking hassle reading shonen titles back in the day.I remember the form of Mangafox in like 2004-2005 where you had to open each page file separately like you're browsing Windows file explorer.
