Well, Griffith wanted to be King for the sake of it not because he cared about the people of the kingdom.

Gungrave has nobler intentions: He is trying to build a better nation the best he can do but hes aware that is impossible for everyone to be happy, but they were raised in a very shitty country so every bit of improvement counts towards to a better future.

Gungrave is a mix of idealist and realist but his ambition is for the sake of others not for himself, meanwhile Griffith beneffiting others was a consecuence not the goal since his desire was inherently self centered

Is it gonna be like this until the very end? We are being told the story from Shuri perspective, then we shown the narrator perspective, then we shown the gang member perspective eventhough the content basically the same, and it just retelling.

i'm sure they have rations but i imagine the 'tofu' might be made from some wild herb , or maybe something that's handwaved considering the concept of some other worlder appearing on a military camp of the 'good' guys would be hard to believe too (tho i wonder how many isekai where they'd have them on the side of evil unwillingly at first)

while poverty is inevitable the negative effects of poverty are completely social. It wouldn't be that difficult to create a society where even the severely impoverished have food and shelter. The main thing that's stopping us from doing that in our world is that people don't want their tax money to be "wasted" on the poor.

The sad irony is that it's actually cheaper for the wallets of ordinary citizens to provide for the poorest than to just let them suffer and die. I remember reading an article many moons ago where someone crunched the numbers and found that it was cheaper for a city to just give houses to homeless people than to keep eating the costs for their care in emergency rooms alone. That's not even getting into how having a home is a nigh obligatory requirement to getting a job, and more employed people then paying taxes means improved services and lowered tax burdens for everyone. Add in things like increased costs for police and jails when homeless people will commit a minor crime when the weather gets really bad just to get a warm bed and food for a short time, and it becomes even clearer that society is better off taking care of its worst-off members, even if only in a financial sense, than refusing to do so on the basis of toddler-logic level ideas of fairness. My gut reaction to reading that article was that it was going to be total BS, but the maths were pretty clear, and it changed my mind on the topic.
