This is why the only way to deal with people like this are to either just kill them directly, or remove all authority they possess by usurping their authority in the same manner.

Either kill the King or place a contract bracelet on him and force him to undo it. Then you kill him just to prevent any future headaches because he is essentially a huge manchild who will will never let it rest.

What prevents it is a thing called Shounen Plot Device to keep a Carboard Villain "relevant".

There's the minor bit where they don't know what'll happen to the Hero if they simply kill the king, BUT....
They could have sorted that when the MC neutralised the curse outside the king's sphere of influence and the bracelet could actually be taken off, but the Hero didn't. For Plot Reasons.
The moment that happened you could simply predict this happening... ummmm 3 years ago. Chapter 33 and following..

This has devolved into a hellish cocktail of Plotanium and sheer idiocy. As expected, but still... I had futile hope the author didn't slavishly follow the Tropes.
