I like this manga, but progress is so slow. It feels like author is edging us. He once stated that he wanted to do three updates daily. But it is not possible.

He did for a while give an update five days a week. Then, unsurprisingly, he suffered a burnout. Because while it's physically posdible to do this, it's mentally exhausting.

And after the burnout, it became hard for him to focus on writing and drawing so the pace slowed down. As a writer, I went through similar things in my younger days when I naively thought I could write several pages of a novel every day. Very few people can do that and not break.

I think the sudden change is understandable, she normally is able to play the "good girl role" due to her high mental fortitude from having a cray cray mother

But let's not forget that this day start with a bang thanks to Kana's older sister Akira announcing the guard exchange, she was content to just having days as Sou's guard alongside Miku and Kana but suddenly Sou was taken (for a day), then the group photo, then the report that Sou was hugged by everyone in class

She finally felt threaten that her position might slowly be taken if she doesn't do anything, she still works for the team (with Miku and Kana) as shown in helping Miku with her Sou withdrawal (hand goddess Hinata) and supporting Kana when she was being bombarded with the negative review on her villainous skit, she just decided she might need to go to the offensive too

But that is why this story is wholesome, and the other is not. In the R18 version, Sou is honestly an asshole and he kinda exploits the girls into having sex. They are desperate after all.

Here he is kind (and oblivious, but whatever) and so they like him more and more.

The R18 version -> the girls are basically all happy but... in truth he's sorta just using them.

I agree to you that R18 Sou is an as*hole but I think he still care for the girls in such that they are more that useful sexual outlets for him.
