Honestly, if it weren't for Abricomas's comment, I probably would've forgotten what the whole plot was about again... this is in part due to the manga's inability to communicate the urgency of the situation, but also because it has such sporadic releases.
Everything that is happening right now is unimportant, as in, the appearance of a group with ancient tech on par with present day galactic empire tech, the war situation, etc. since what matters is finding a way to develop the world into a ready state to communicate with the galactic empire, and/or acquire tech that can enable them to defend themselves against the bugs. If the war fails, proceed with plan B, if plan B fails, plan C, etc. until they achieve the objective. I now sort of understand why the manga has taken liberties past a certain point, and it's because it doesn't matter, as it has no real influence on the real plot... and this could keep going until the LN/WN resumes and they can reroute the manga back into the proper path. If the Emperor of the current empire in this planet was necessary for the real plot of the LN/WN, they can just introduce a new empire and fix things up. If the "super high tech from an ancient civilization" is a problem, they can just say it was a ship that came some years back and inserted itself into the planet's existing lore and legends while waiting for rescue, etc.
But, I fear the axe will come before this eventually happens...
