I don't think he's over yami, i say that bc if he was really over her, he would have no problem telling hikari about his relationship with her. he even asked yami did she keep their relationship a secret from hikari in the kiss chapter from yuu and yami's perspective. He would need to be very clear to yami if he was over her. If he's fully done with her, he just needs to say the 2 magic words "FUCK OFF" lmao
But I mean… it’s Yuu we’re talking about—the wishy-washy guy. He doesn’t have it in him to tell Yami to fuck off. And like Yami said during that outburst of hers, if he had really been 100% invested in their relationship, he would’ve gone looking for her. Maybe he did try and we just don’t know, but since he never mentioned it, I think he just accepted being ghosted.

wait why u mad at him, im very interested in this subplot lol. Also i like your current pfp, voiced by Fairouz Ai, shes great
First, the story from the one-shot Marriage of Murder and Lies was abandoned in favor of what eventually became the manga Bouryoku Banzai—only the names and character designs were kept. Second, I decided to give it a chance, even though I already found the new setting and premise weak, but the events of the last few chapters completely broke my suspension of disbelief, so I ended up dropping it.

Man… I’ve got a huge crush on Fairouz Ai. She voices so many of my favorite female characters.

I can't believe she did that and now in this chapter she somehow thinks if she lies out her ass that Hikari and her will magically be friends again.
I'm possibly projecting from the passive aggressive folks I know, but I took it as her going into full defensive/protective mode. I take it as she thought Hikari would choose Yuu over her so she's proactively getting ahead of it by being awful. It's in the same family as the ghosting.

Holy shit as a Yuu hater I just typed up a little essay and basically gaslit myself into liking Yami as a character and hating Yuu even more?

TLDR; If you want to play with fire (Yami) then getting burnt is on you and Yuu is the reason both Yami and Hikari are even crashing out in the first place
This might be the hottest take here but in my opinion Yuu is objectively the worst person here. is Yami a complete and total bitch? absolutely, but both of them KNEW that going in when they met her and they're the ones who forced their way into relationships with her even after the shit she pulled on them. You don't get to put your hand over a fire and cry because it burns you. I also want to argue that her perspective is crashing out because it turns out the only guy she's ever liked is childhood friends with the person who's basically her only friend and not only do they like each other, but she basically got in between them and got pushed aside anyway. It makes perfect sense that a damaged character like her would self destruct and lash out.

On the other hand, Yuu has no fucking balls and never actually takes into consideration anyone's feelings but his own because he only cares about himself and what he wants. It's crazy to me how many people give Yuu a pass for sleeping with Yami while he was crushing on Hikari just because he's a teenager like he can't have any self control or self respect. Not to mention the fact that he did make 0 effort to reach out or check on Yami at any point after she cut him off? literally 0 effort? You can't even say he was respecting her wishes because as soon as he saw her again he jumped right back into it. There's also all of the lying by omission on top of the straight up lying out of convenience. Yuu is absolutely not innocent nor is he the one who got the short end of the stick out of the three of them. He's the only one here who had the agency to do the right thing multiple times and fail at every given opportunity.

Hikari is definitely the best person here which is ironically what her flaw is. No one told her to extend a hand out to Yami and she really should have taken the hint after the compensated dating fiasco but she didn't; and arguably her friendship with Yami wouldn't have ever even had an issue without the existence of Yuu but here we are. Even now she's trying to do the right thing and help out the relationship between Yami and Yuu at the cost of her own happiness (even if she'd 100% be better off cutting them both out of her life and moving on).

I think this chapter was pretty good and summed up the gist of the plot and characters pretty well. Yami is damaged and self destructive so she pushes people away, Yuu deserves everything that happens to him for being so indecisive and cowardly, and Hikari was too passive and willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, so now she has to deal with both of their flaws.

Hikari also had the perfect point as to why I'm a Yuu hater out of all of them: in her mind Yuu would never have done any of that if he didn't have feelings for Yami. In other words while crushing on Hikari he decided to go for the girl he had a shot with and caught feelings, then came crawling back when it didn't work out because he didn't really care that much in the first place compared to Hikari, except he also downplayed it hard and shrugged off his relationship with Yami now that he knew he had a chance with his original crush. He basically caused the entire crashout for all parties.

Do you guys not realized that Yami here not actually intentionally mocking Yuu? She just wanted to made it feels like she doesn't have feeling for Yuu so that Hikari can be with him. All her word about him are all lies, all that so Hikari won't get hurt, and Hikari knows that.
Why di you guys always takes her word at face value? You guys always has negative bias againts her for no reason.
...no reason?! Bro, you cannot be serious with that

That this—
all of this was the consequence of what I had done.
That I hadn’t just hurt Yuu…
I had hurt Hikari too.

When Yuu ran out of this classroom in tears,
I suddenly regained my composure—
and was hit with overwhelming regret.

I had done something I absolutely shouldn’t have.
And worse, Hikari had seen it.

What the hell is wrong with me?
Why did I go through with it,
even after I realized Hikari was right there?

No…
Was it because she was there that I went through with it?
If that’s the case, then seriously… what is wrong with me?
So Yami-senpai saw Hikari before she kissed Yuu, I thought she saw her when it was already too late, but it seems that it was before. Interesting, she has more guts than I thought, if this were a visual novel I would choose her as first route no doubt.
Yami's emotional conflict between not wanting to give up on Yuu after they reunite and not wanting to lose her best friend is being developed nicely (writing-wise, she is in a tough position in any other measure).

I guess after they are done talking, Yami will decide to confront her feelings about Yuu directly and go after him.

Also, it seems that Hikari is finally coming out of her bubble and organizing her feelings. I wonder how she will react next (10% chance of slapping in the next chapter?).

P.S.: If only the women I know weren't over 10 times more problematic and were half as hot as Yami, I would have enjoyed high school more.

頑張れ ヤミ!
負けるな ヤミ!

Hikari is far more mature than the other 2 in this situation, she SHOULD NOT end with any of them, she needs to just leave them to wallow in their "oh woe is me" crap.
Also a much better friend. She could have totally taken the happily ever after w/ Yuu that they both offered but she knows both of 'em well enough to know that it wouldn't be real. Here she's straight up asking them to tell her things she knows will hurt her b/c it'll be better for them to have it all out in the open.

If he wanted the come across as a creep he would've done that
Making an initial attempt to contact someone who ghosted you isn't being a creep, there are respectful ways he could have gone about it. If he kept doing it after she told him in no uncertain terms to not try contacting her again, then it would be. Problem is, people these days consider ghosting without explanation as proper rejection, and any attempt to find out why it happened as an unforgivable sin.

Oh come on now. If he wanted the come across as a creep he would've done that, doing nothing was probably one of the wisest things Yuu ever did in his life.
I mean… is it really that creepy to go looking for your girlfriend who just ghosted you without a word? The message is pretty clear, sure, but if it were me—and I was 100% committed to the relationship—I’d at least want to know why. Because of that, and what Yuu said when he confessed to Hikari, it feels to me like he was never fully invested in Yami.

How do you try to make contact when:

  • They don't have any shared friend he could try asking.
  • He likely didn't know where she lived.
  • Showing up at the door of her school is exactly the type of behavior others would describe as creepy.

Or my favorite:

Wander at places she may or may not show up.

Completely deranged behavior. Remember their relationship was implied to be mostly spending time indoors, just the two of them, having sex.
