Everyone sucks here. All three are selfish, entitled prats. What concerns me is your failure to acknowledge that what happened prior to Hikari developing her crush is none of her damn business.
A teenage girl getting immaturely upset over not getting her fairy tail crush coming true. Is as bad as a guy who was constantly playing around with her and another girl who put her in a position where an old man tried to fuck her and treated her like shit.
Like sorry I don't view her nearly as bad as the other too because she who has never been in a relationship and is also 16, she had an immature reaction to finding out her best friend and crush fucked, that's normal.

Are you forgetting that Hikari is also trying to get Yuu and Yami to connect and talk even though she's clearly aware that doing this means she's probably not going to get Yuu in the end. Yami despite how shitty she's constantly been to her is being followed by Hikari because she's concerned for her friend. How in any way is she selfish when she's doing this. Her being jealous and slightly mean over losing her first crush to her best friend just shows that she isn't a paragon of virtue but compared to the other two she is.
Yuu literally less than a month ago confessed to her while lying about actually loving her and broke her heart and just now it happened again when she found out her childhood memories with Yuu didn't mean much to him. Yet, despite all that she's still doing everything she can to help Yami whose a selfish cunt who wallows in self pity 24/7
She is far from selfish she should be more selfish.

Always amusing when fangirls try to excuse a character's entitled behaviour as being immature at 16, while pretending the exact same reasoning doesn't apply to the other two characters. You can't have it both ways numpty. 🤡

Yuu never played with Hikari. His only real fault here is him playing to being the virgin with everyone, but he never played with Hikari feelings. He was sincere with her (chapter 17) and left clear there were things who he was not still ready to tell about them. Again, his only real big bad action is don´t tell to Hikari about Yami during his confession knowing actively Hikari and Yami were friends in that point.
Again, HIKARI PUNCHED YUU, HE NEVER HAS USED THE VIOLENCE AGAINST HER, so, the moral high ground is for Yuu Takamura.

Yeah, the part of him doing that after Hikari seeing how he was slapped and sexually agreded by Yami doesn´t count, I guess. Less bad Hikari saw the slap and even her realized how toxic would had been the Yami-Yuu relationship if that scene was the official ending.
and just now it happened again when she found out her childhood memories with Yuu didn't mean much to him
Hikari still has not realized this point, she doesn´t know yet this point.

Dude, you legit wouldn't feel any type of away about finding out your crush who was also your oldest friend had all their firsts with your best friend?
So, you finally admit the SEGGS always was and is the only real problem here. We are improving.
And yes, again, that is the only real fault of Takamura here. Him playing to being the virgin boy with everyone. If Aya-chan plays to be a whore, Ta-kun plays to be a virgin prude.
Also, friendly reminder for everyone who Shikimori-san had a more authentic NTR scene than anything who has passed in Imasara and where the OG Ayami really was so close to destroy an already established real relationship:

I think that's the route toward an everyone is single ending
The most probably resolution is Yuu ending with Yuki, who precisely seems more aware from this point about the needs of Yuu of having somebody to take the decisions for him. The little problem is that would be repeat, again, this fucking ending as a confirmation of the most fatalist vision of the Destiny.
In any timeline, Yuu Izumi will end in the arms of Miyako Shikimori. IN ALL THE TIMELINES -insert Dr. Strange´s voice-. And yes, Yuki Hirai until now as acted basically as the Shikimori who came so damn late.

thought they were together for a summer break or something like that.
the novel has dates - they get together late February & break up late July, so I guess it was 5 months.

it could also be that this is what Yami wanted, perhaps?
Yeah so I think he assumed that and misses her passive aggressive hints about it feeding into her low self esteem and this is a glaring example of their terrible communication. But also "secret girlfriend" is untenable for a long term serious relationship, which I think ties into Aya's frustration about him not having plans/thinking ahead.

Hikari is not his girlfriend or his wife. It's bizarre how you think being someone's friend means you're entitled to the most intimate details about your friend's life.
Extrapolating, so you'd only have feels if your girlfriend or wife had all her firsts w/ your best friend, no feels at all if it was just your oldest friend crush? Who confessed to you while you're still friends w/ the bestie so you all are in each other's lives?

And we've had this argument before but this isn't about entitlement to information, it's about friends trusting each other with information. Especially information that has a major effect on the relationship - Aya blowing everything up and Yuu priorizing Aya are a direct consequence of Aya and Yuu's previous relationship.

ETA: Also Yuu claimed he wanted Hikari as his girlfriend - it's what kicked off this whole arc. So like if she had said yes to him, then is it okay for her to have feels about this information? Even if those feels are that she no longer wants to be his gf b/c of the entanglement between him and Aya? Which would then probably make it information that she should have had before making the decision 'cause otherwise that's trying to trick a girl into being a girlfriend?

No man, it's the lack of communication. Hikari feeling some type of way isn't really a problem since clearly she's not ending her friendship w/ Aya over it & it's only a factor in the Yuu story because Yuu is prioritizing Aya over her in a way where she thinks Aya is more important to him.

Can't have those feelings with information you don't have. Hikari only got that information by pestering Yuu for information she wasn't entitled to. So for me, it's not about her reaction to the information. It's about her not being entitled to that information in the first place, and her deciding that somehow that doesn't apply to her.
I've never been a fan of characters who friendzone someone, belatedly realise they have feelings for the person they friendzoned, and then get upset because that friend attempted to move on.
Trying to 'trick a girl into being a girlfriend' and parking/friendzoning a boy while expecting him to wait for her are two sides of the same coin. Both perspectives are valid. You can't vanish either side of the coin without vanishing the entire coin.
I'm willing to acknowledge both sides. Are you? Hikari is NOT blameless in all this. As I've repeatedly said, everyone sucks here.

Not sure what you mean exactly by "Yuu playing virgin card", but i feel like Yuu's main fault is him being a total pushover when it comes to Yami. She keeps being difficult all around, and all Yuu does is defend her. Also, Hikari didn't punch Yuu, she pushed him away (if you are talking about the confession).

Thanks, good to know. I guess i see how you can call this "hiding". Perhaps what i argued was that it wasn't Yuu's intention to hide her existence, but rather that the proper moment to disclose this relationship to anyone didn't came about (Yami being Yami is hardly the least of the reasons).

I do agree that Yami had a right to call out Hikari on this childish fit, but, somehow, you make it sound like it was as bad as, or even worse than anything Yami pulled off at this point.

Nope. All I've said is that everyone sucks here, and argued that Hikari is not blameless. I'm not seeing how the 'immature and only 16' excuse some are spouting only applies to ONE of the three characters.
In my opinion, Yuu not telling Hikari about his ex has the same weight as Hikari friendzoning him while being upset he didn't wait for her. Either both are fair, or neither are. I'm certainly not arguing that what Yami has pulled is of similar weight. What Yami did is clearly worse.

The difference is in what they did. If a 16 year old broke my window by accident and owned up to it I'd be upset, if a 16 year old broke my window on purpose then tried to pretend they didn't I'd be furious. This is the difference between Hikari and the other two in a nutshell.
Hikari got a bit jealous and made a snide remark. Yami verbally abused het, lied to her, tried to get an old man to fuck her and Yuu has constantly been lying to her and using her as a back up plan. Hikari even apologised instantly after she unintentionally made Yami cry but in the other position Yami has never genuinely apologised to her ever.

No he did, he was chasing after Yami while Hikari was inviting him on obvious dates and stuff. He didn't break it off with Yami or tell Hikari hes not interested.
He was sincere with her (chapter 17) and left clear there were things who he was not still ready to tell about them. Again, his only real big bad action is don´t tell to Hikari about Yami during his confession knowing actively Hikari and Yami were friends in that point.
Not really he was and pretty much is still chasing after Yami.
Again, HIKARI PUNCHED YUU, HE NEVER HAS USED THE VIOLENCE AGAINST HER, so, the moral high ground is for Yuu Takamura.
She pushed him away or slapped him when he was going for a hug or kiss. Bad? Sure, but so is pretending to confess to a girl who he isn't interested in.

Yuu has constantly been lying to her and using her as a back up plan.

You need to decide if not telling someone something equals lying, because if that's your standard, then Hikari has been lying to Yuu for six months straight.

Hikari was oblivious about Yuu's feelings for years, but when it's her turn, she gets upset at him being oblivious.

By your reasoning, Hikari friendzoning him for years and then being upset that he didn't wait forever is HER using him as a backup plan.

The whole girl must get the guy to be the one to confess is the most ridiculous double standard of all.

Eh like he's lying about being out on a date...the lead up to that seems like as proper a moment as any. Yuu's also an open book about his crush on Hikari - everyone but Hikari knows - so it's a bit??? that he didn't just straight up leak the information.

Yuu not telling Hikari about his ex has the same weight as Hikari friendzoning him
How is it friendzoning if she didn't even know he liked her?

Can't have those feelings with information you don't have.
The whole plot for however many chapters has been that of course this was all gonna come out b/c his (clearly not over him) ex is her best friend.

Hikari is NOT blameless in all this.
Look I don't think she's blameless cause she's running around trying to have it all the ways by saving everyone such that she's not gonna actually have to confront her feelings, not cause she didn't fall for Yuu when he fell for her.

So then the manga adaptation is leaving out information?
Makes this sound like a really bad adaptation because as its been presented in this Manga, Yuu has been playing around with her feelings.
But wow his internal dialogue is bad lmao and even then these POV chapters aren't making him seem any less worse, he goes from someone maliciously playing with Hikari without them, to someone so pathetic hes hurting everyone around him because hes such a loser.

Not really and theres a fair point to be made if Hikari was acting like this after he moved on from Yami. However he hasn't moved on from Yami nor is he taking Hikari seriously. Her using him as a back-up plan implies she was aiming for someone else when she wasn't, but Yuu currently is, hes still smitten with Yami. Hikari obviously isn't flawless in the situation shes obviously very cowardly as well but was way more proactive with her crush then he was, she was taking him on psuedo dates to see if he was interested in her and he never once pushed her away romantically and was instead leaning into it all while Yami was still on his mind. In comparison he was just having sad boy thoughts in his brain about how shes out of reach instead of being proactive in any way.

She didn't confess at first because she was being a coward, sure but she was getting there its just he did his fake confession first. Also wtf how was she friendzoning him? Hikari said in the first chapter she wasn't aware about seeing him that way until then and from the looks of things its her first crush. Yuu being too much of a pussy to confess to her doesn't mean she was friendzoning him it would only be that if she denied him. He's just an incredibly self-centered asshole who wallows in his own self pity of being so pathetic he can't cut off a toxic ex or just reject the girl who has a crush on him so he tried to have it both ways and ended up hurting both of them. Hes so much worse than her in every way and Yami is worse than him doubled. The tierlist goes from a Bratty teenager in Hikari, A pathetic loser in Yuu and a schizo whore in Yami. Idk how you can ever view all of them as equally bad.

Nah, ditching planned family dinner cause your girlfriend wants to make out a bit more isn't a proper moment at all :wowee:

Though, more likely, you meant that he should've invited her to the family/neighbors dinner in the first place? I'd imagine this wouldn't bode well with Japanese etiquette - feels like a wrong event to invite a new face to (would've been okay, probably, if his family knew about his GF for a while).

Also, just out of curiosity, how long they were together at that point?

What I meant was he could have told his parents he was going to the movies with his girlfriend when he left the house in the morning and had fully intended to be home for dinner.

Would've been some time in late? May-early? June, so like in the 3 month range.
