Yeah, that is kinda strange - up to this arc, getting to the miracle-granting deepest part was priority over everything. We know he's kind but he also didn't mind using others to get onto lower levels of the labyrinth.
And now Lastaria (who is seriously an annoying character) does 180* to his character and mission. Like, I would understand if it was Maria, since she looks almost exactly like his sister and that influences him greatly. But Lastaria forced him to run away at the start of the series and now she could force him to run away again if he helps her. He has now a home, Maria and Dia (kinda) to take care of, he has quite a bit to lose and basically not much to gain other than somewhat strong helper who could very well die if her creators decide so. She's a jewel/flesh puppet so it wouldn't surprise if they had some remote killswitch for her.

You’d also have to account for Maria(and Dia ig) and how her death would impact them

They’re also using Tiara’s blood which is in limited quantity
Not to mention, the amount time they poured into this project

And the only way that they would have a remote killswitch would be through the Magic Formulas
Which were crammed and specialized into reviving Tiara so there’s most likely no leeway there

Conclusion:
While the killswitch is an interesting idea, there are too many constraints, expenses or variables to make it a viable failsafe

I can't wait for the upcoming train derailment arc where a bullet train gets isekaied into this world mid ride, and conveniently crashes straight into all the annoying plot contrivance characters, turning them all into pink mist, so that we can go back to the original plot that everyone started reading this for. Why the fuck would he care more about this girl that is clearly not able to give him what he needs, is not a lover or family member, and is constantly bringing him more trouble than he quickly evaporating help is worth...
I just wanna get back to diving, finding his sister, figuring out the root of his confusion and other powers, and resolving the offshoot storyline of magical love love floor guardian fire girl please. All the interesting plot points and characters got side lined for these tragic backstory:tm: generators.

Edit: Here you go. I wanted to post it long ago when Lastiara hate. I remember that I actually didn't like her that much either at first. But then learned her situation and kinda love her. Probably because knowing that she was just that young. Even Maria who annoyed by Lastiara's attitude later kinda treated her as a little sister too.

he should be. he put so much care onto maria which he thought she was or will be his sister later.

the burden of harem is real (like in this story). even when he tried to be loyal to his commitment and the other parties don't have hostile relationship, there would be a clash of agenda because they are all (should be) a unique entity. the burden of trying to make a ties to all of them shall not be only mc's responsibilities. The other party should have make an effort if they do care about mc's well being
