Attempting to assassinate Royalty is a serious crime that will see the criminal being executed, along with their entire bloodline. And you can damn well bet that any friends or associates close to a criminal will also be treated poorly, even if they didn't know about the crime before hand.

We saw something similar a few chapters back with Lady Caroline and her friends when they attempted to poison Monica. Caroline was the actual perpetrator, but it was mentioned after the fact that while she was the only one officially punished, her friends were pressured into leaving school as well. And Monica is viewed as a low noble at best. Imagine how bad the backlash would be if someone was associated with a person who tried to kill a prince...

So, Monica can't turn Casey over to the authorities anymore (well, not the school authorities anyway) without breaking her cover. Casey just watched her familiar jump through the window and Monica doesn't have any explanation for the "I know how you are blowing up the school from three buildings away."

(Edit: well, I guess Monica knows memory erasing spells. But somehow I don't think using them on an assassin before handing that assassin to the police is a good idea)

This is probably going to be handed to Louis and kept quiet. Which means that, if Casey IS being coerced, there's a chance at a plea bargain ("help us turn this around on those threatening you and we'll sweep it under the rug" edit: to start. Casey would also probably be working for Louis and/or Monica for the rest of her life as a supporting asset and informant...)

But if that deal doesn't happen, oh boy is Casey screwed.

Remember the person we saw holding a grudge over how the earth dragon showing up wasn't a big deal in the central regions of Ridill waaaaaay back when Glenn was first introduced? That was Casey, plotting to kill Felix.

It depend on where/when it was.

In Europe, the bloodline wouldn't have been executed (unless they were directly involved). If we take the assassination of the French king Henry IV as an exemple (in 1610), his murderer was executed (and it was quite gruesome). His close family (parents and brother) was exiled and the rest of the familly was forbidden to keep their familly name.

So, nothing as drastic as it would have been in China

In chapter 6 page 8 it is mentioned what the punishment for an attempt on the life of a royal family member would be. Yeah, it's the entire family. Prince wants to keep it under wraps, so he covers it up with Selma taking a leave of absence "due to ill health."

Long answer: Professor William Macragan sorta guessed that Monica Norton is the same Silent Witch he taught back in Minerva but he is smart enough to not say anything about it
