I don't get why she insisted on pretending that the third guy (who got killed) never existed.

My guess, less questions. I wouldn't be surprised too if there is some memory manipulation going on too (they are magical) its easier to say he went on mission work to another country than it is to explain why there is a missing person. Could you imagine the police/fbi getting involved and the strain on the family that just went through all this.

The supernatural exists in this world, but it seems the people that know do absolutely as much as they can to keep it hidden. This outcome is probably the lesser of 2 evils in this scenario.

I wonder if there isn’t some degree of, for lack of a better term, power of identity related to these spirits and the people they posses or consume. Kind of like with tales of the Fae, the power that names hold. Since that demon consumed him, it receives Strength from memory, acknowledgment, or mourning of him. Least that’s an idea I’m thinking might be associated

Course there’s also the practical side of less questions asked
