I feel like there really is no reason to keep Allen alive. They could just kill Allen right then and there. Recognition for being a hero? You could just say his team got KIA, got separated in the process. So long as the old shady dude who chose Rick, and in extend, the royalty (the king) acknowledge it then there's no reason why the people won't do the same. This whole "keeping him alive to have him recognize me as a true hero" is just a waste of time. Too many risks for too little benefit.

Kruz has said this chapter Rick warned her about how things will turn out when given the potion to Allen, so him giving Cruz a modified and harmful potion in preparation to this scenario is possibility. Remember the other alchemist already said Rick essentially developed a variant and more potent version of the Golden Potion and is what he's been giving them until now so developing a poisonous variant (or even a previous faulty prototype) is feasible. Then is up to Kruz's acting.

You do have a point but here is a counter point. She's a (I think true) vampire. Her vitality could run on different rules then humans do. What could weaken our life she on the otherhand could be immune to it for her. Like for instance. I could get my arm cut off in a dungeon. I would need some level of magic to keep said arm or even recover. She on the otherhand can drink blood and instantly recover. Toxins probably can just be expelled through natural process of waste release.
